Hi Farmgirls,

I was offline a bit this summer. I wanted to spend as much time as possible with my sweet DD. She is starting her senior year of high school next week. As a stay at home mama, it is bittersweet.

This summer, my goals were simple: spend time relaxing with my family and dear friends. I accomplished that. I also got to go on a road trip with my daughter, spend time with my best friend, had an amazing garden, and got to go glamping with my family. This has been one of the best summers I have ever had.

I have missed you all! What has your summer been like?

Nicole I am so happy you enjoyed your summer with family and friends.

It's been hot here in my part of Texas so I have spent my summer piddling around the house & garden; working on wool projects; and dreaming of the fall.

Hi Sara,

I have heard how hot it is there from my family! Wow! What a scorcher. What wool projects are you working on?

So far this month I've made two round table mats for my kitchen table. One with apples for our MJF Apple Festival in Sept and one with pumpkins. I would like to make one for the winter - haven't decided on the design.

Sara - NICE! I plan on sewing up some quilted place mats for my table this fall. I have cherry fabric that matches my kitchen.

Your summer sounded delightful Nicole! What a genuine blessing for you!! Like Sara, here in southern Alabama its been wicked hot and dry for most of the summer. The rainy afternoons have begun so our ponds are all beginning to fill back up. The garden and pastures, yards and pond kept us busy but hope to get a road trip in by October when things cool down!!

Nicole, when I think about cherries in the kitchen I always think about the vintage canisters with cherries. Never had any of the canisters but always thought they were pretty. Let us know when you get your cherry place mats done - I know they will be pretty.

Sara, I think the old canisters is what started it all for me. I finally got some this past year at a thrift store for $12 for an entire set! I was so happy! Dianna, I bet it is wicked hot there! I have been there several times. Fall will be here before we know it.

Nicole, good for you dedicating your Summer to family and friends!! It sounds like many good and memorable things happened, including lots of time with your daughter. Down here in Florida, it has been the usual tropical hot , humid, and rain stormy season. Once we went to Canada to spend a week with friends and had a few days or cooler and drier weather which was good for sigh seeing. Then last week we were in NC to visit our daughter in Asheville. Some how the hot weather attached attached to our car and we took it with us to the mountains!! However, the local summer apples in the mountains ripened and I got to go to a U-pick place. Almost time for our September Apple Festival at MJF!! I hope you will join in and share your experiences with apples.

Winnie, YUM! Those apples look amazing. Apple season is just stating here...peaks in October or so. One of the most favorite blogs I ever wrote for MJF was on apple picking here in New England: http://www.farmgirlbloggers.com/1162#more-1162

My baby girl started back to school on Monday. She is a senior. Her boyfriend started college today; happily he is staying local so they will still get to see each other.

It was a great summer. It is cooler here now; leaves are falling and it is starting to get dark earlier. :(

We had so much fun though. Guess that means it really was a great summer.
