I found this in an old book several years ago. Its hard to read, but it was made by CARRIE EWELL IN 1865, BOTTOM LEFT. BOTTOM RIGHT IT SAYS MARRIED IN 1863. Its written in pencil. I put it in the frame. Wonder what she was like and where she was from?
I always look through used books or old books when I have them, you just never know what you will find.

Great find Nancy Jo. I too wonder about the woman who owned an item I found at an estate sale or antique/thrift shop. Sometimes I make up stories about the woman and item.

Nancy Jo...that is Awesome! I have found very interesting things in newer and older books. Once I found $10.00; probably somebody's bookmark they forgot about. Another time I found a charm bracelet.
And many times very interesting notes scribbled on paper. When I managed The Christian Bookstore here in Vancouver, WA I had a Sales Rep. who told me that he had bought his son and daughter The
Left Behind Series of Books for Christmas and in The Very Last Book he hid $100.00 for each of them. He did not tell them that he did...but he decided he would know if they finished the series or not
eventually. And if they didn't...and just gave the books away or to Goodwill somebody else would find a Blessing instead. So, you are right...you never know what you can find in a Book...besides a Good
Story!

Peggy

Nancy Jo, that is an awesome find. The most I have found in books is other people's bookmarks, but even those make me curious of the previous reader.

Nancy, what a wonderful find! Wouldn't you just love to be able to meet some of the people who wrote in the old books? Just to see what they were like.

Lovely---isn't it amazing what we find in things? I once found fifty dollars in a pattern I bought and we were so poor at that time that I was sure I was rich! Anyway it was old paper money from the thirties and I told hubby I thought it might be worth something and he said no! Anyway I know now that it was worth something. Live and learn.
