Oh dear. Perhaps I did mine wrong? I took a front page put of one of my MaryJane magazines and blacked out everything but my tiny 'poem'. When you get it Marie if it's wrong, I'll do another. Ok? Learning process!! :)

No, no, please don’t worry about the way you did yours, Dianna! Look at Judith’s to me- hers is like that. I tried to make mine to Vanessa like that, but it was too hard with the limited written material I could use, so I ended up cutting out different words from what I had.

Oh Crikey! I get blamed for everything. It's the curse of being the oldest child :-)
It can be challenging to find the words on a single page to convey a meaning or thought. I did mine with separate letters this time. I only had two magazines to cut from but it worked ok, I think. When used bookstores here are open again I plan on getting a couple of "cutter" books to play with. The one I did for Alise was from Walden. I thought it would be good with nature poetry or phrases but it was a struggle.

Lol, Judith, at least this time you are blamed for a good thing, huh?? No switches, no spankings, no time outs!! :D. I actually loved using a random page to find words to convey a thought or attempting poetic prose!

I understand Judith. Hot is too hot, sometimes. We had the most beautiful morning. We had a nice South breeze and it was cool until about ten am. Tomorrow we should not 103°.

Teaching first graders to read, spell, and expand their vocabulary, was always a challenge...so sometimes we "found" words, cut them out, and glued them to paper!
That is what this activity reminded me of. It was a lot of fun.
