I got this out yesterday and cleaned it up and washed all the furniture. Going to leave it up. I played with this a lot when I was little. I think I will try and find some more doll house furniture for it, makes playing with it more fun when you can change things around.

Hi Sara and Dianna,
Yes I got it out and it almost made me cry, it really does bring back place and time. I will have to keep a lookout at garage sales and the thrift store for more things to add to it.

Oh My Stars! I remember these tin doll houses.. I so wanted one,, but because we moved so very much when I was a child (daddy was career Army),, we were limited as to what and how much we could take with us,, which was bare minimal .... clothes, shoes, petticoats... and my 2 Barbie dolls in their double wide case w/more clothes then I had! lol!

Cherish and enjoy your sweet doll house... maybe some day I can come play... we'll have tea and butter cookies and re-arrange the furniture in your doll house...

I have a similar dollhouse from my childhood but no furniture. Where do you find it?

Marlene,
The doll house furniture I have now is most all from when I was little. But I have seen it on e'bay, and several places. Just google dollhouse furniture. Also Esty has a lot too.

Nancy Jo...I had that very same doll house. I wish I had kept mine but my mom would wait until we were at school
and she would clean out our old toys and pass them on to thrift shops. I did the same thing with my kids...but I let
them keep any books they had . I think my youngest son has them all now! lol That is the only way I could get rid
of their toys to make room for more (wait until they were at School).

Enjoy finding new furniture and people for your Doll House. We have a Doll House Shop in downtown Vancouver.
Hopefully, it makes it through the Pandemic. But if you are ever looking for a certain piece, I could check there for you.

Love, Hugs, and Joy,
Peggy

Nancy, that doll house is adorable! I never had one as a child but have been waiting for the day I can get one for my daughter. I agree with Grace. I swore I have seen some furniture at the dollar store in the past. If we can ever revisit stores normally again I will check for you.

1-12 means 1" to 12" ratio so for every 12" the item is scaled down to 1"

I found my box of miniature/doll house accessories... lamps, clocks, basins, coffee grinder and other goodies.. I should sort through them and put them on ebay of etsy.. but right now I am to lazy...

In Camarillo. Calif., there was a quaint Doll House store,,(don't know if they are still there).. Oh My Stars! some of the minitures were almost as expensive as a regular item!
It was a very expensive hobby shop... but lovely to peruse through...
I had planned to create doll house glass framed (think shadow box) rooms... so I started collecting the modest priced minis... I could not justify spending $80 on a mini Sworzski (sp) Crystal chandelier... so mine are run of the mill $3-5 items.. and now they sit in a box, on the shelf in my sewing room... They have traveled from Moorpark Calif., to Spokane, then to Coarsegold Calif. and back to Spokane... lol!
It was fun to look through them,, but I for the life of me, can't figure out why I bought 2 lil wash tubs and 2 lil wash boards.. I am sure I had something in mind, but can't remember now, why??? lol!

My father made my doll house and I kept it long enough for my oldest daughter to have it. I was working in a cabinet shop when youngest daughter was doll house age so I made hers, complete with tiny kitchen cabinets with doors that opened and formica tops, carpeting, and wallpaper. I made a tiny stained glass window glass window next to the hand carved front door. I had more fun making that doll house!

Judith,
Sounds like you put a lot of work into it. So do I understand that you still have the one you made for your daughter?

Unfortunately I don't have it. She was in an abusive marriage and the day came when she had to leave in a hurry. The husband pretty much demolished all her and the kids belongings. They got out with the clothes on their backs and their lives.

I had one very similar to that. My sister got it after me, then when she had kids it went to her daughter. Then my cousin got it for her granddaughter. then back to my cousin, and I think her husband threw it out. DARN!

Nancy, I just love your dollhouse!! I have been seeing these lately but none as beautiful as yours. That is a UFO for me - my grandpa put together a wooden kit from the 1970s. It's ready to be wired for electricity and my mom made beautiful furniture for it. It sits in the basement until I can get to it. I love that you shared this -
