Ah, sounds like terrific fun! I found "snippet rolls" online and gleaned ideas from there, too. And then April, do you let me know who I mail mine to after August 25? Thank you for the info and for coordinating this!

Question please. I have never done this and wondered how long your material needs to be to end up with a 1yd. ribbon?
Thanks!

On mine I start with about one and one half times the finished length I want. It never turns out exact, but it works out.

Enjoying the day

The length will depend on how one makes the ruffles. I just hand sew about 10 running stitches, pull the fabric and anchor it with an additional stitch. This method requires the original fabric strip to be at least 3x the finished length. If one pleats the ruffles say at 1", the equation is this - (Pleat width x 2) x Finished length. So for a 1" pleat one would need double the finished length of original fabric. I just sew some strips together and add more strips when I need them. It is supposed to be scrappy and random.

Thank you, ladies! Yes, just eye ball, keep adding, like Maria shared, this is meant to be scrappy, shabby chic, rustic, hand made! I always end up making more, but that's just me! Just have fun creating!

I am enjoying making these ruffle/snippet ribbons. They are easy and fun. Some are more involved than others, and all are unique and interesting. Love them.

I'm ready to mail out! Can't wait to see what everyone has come up with for this swap.

I have several ideas for Christmas snippet ribbons. Wouldn't Christmas presents look special with ribbons like these on them?

Hey Linda, that's a great idea...as I was finishing one tonight I thought that I need more thread... Pretty soon. I think I made four more this afternoon. Just for fun. I also made a table runner for B and T's table. It is a shortie because their table is small! I put prairie points around it. She liked it.

I know - I have several scrappier ones I've made, more snippetier. LOL! And I have been going through bobbins and spools of thread ever since we had to hibernate at home. LOL! I've been finishing up more quilt tops from blocks I have from various swaps. Then I'll have to pay to get them quilted. LOL! What's money, right?
