SEPTEMBER by Helen Hunt Jackson
The golden-rod is yellow; The corn is turning brown; The trees in apple orchards With fruit are bending down. The gentian’s bluest fringes Are curling in the sun; In dusty pods the milkweed Its hidden silk has spun. The sedges flaunt their harvest, In every meadow nook; And asters by the brook-side Make asters in the brook. From dewy lanes at morning the grapes’ sweet odors rise; At noon the roads all flutter With yellow butterflies. By all these lovely tokens September days are here, With summer’s best of weather, And autumn’s best of cheer. But none of all this beauty Which floods the earth and air Is unto me the secret Which makes September fair. ‘T is a thing which I remember; To name it thrills me yet: One day of one September I never can forget.

I'm so not ready for fall!! I just want more summer first and maybe my wish is going to come TRUE because we are headed for the 90's and maybe 100's this coming Wed-Sunday.
We had such an early Spring that it confused our whole weather system here.
Hope that those of you who have been yearning for Fall get your wish in your neck of the Woods!
Love, Hugs, and Joy, Peggy

Oh my gosh, Denise! That is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing!!!
Oh my Peggy - I am just the opposite! I try to skate furiously through summer, keeping busy to forget about the muggy heat... It was probably different many moons ago when we lived on Cape Cod near the beach, of course. But now? No ocean.. Only hot and muggy heat bouncing off Pittsburgh's Three Rivers. Not for Nini! Nope! I cannot WAIT for autumn!!! I literally felt the pressure change a couple of weeks ago, and it felt like I was coming alive again. I told my hubby fall is coming - it's just around the corner. He didn't blink an eye. He LOVES the heat and humidity. I, however, would stand buck naked in front of the a/c if I knew nobody would ever see! LOL. A couple of weeks ago we started noticing the leaves changing. I was just so excited! And then we were driving down the street below us and saw the leaves were falling from the trees and lining the streets! I kid you not! My heart just leaped! I will have to remember to take a picture to share with you. I can't begin to tell you how incredibly energized and tingly I felt! It's almost OVER! Huzzah! But for your sake, dear sister, I pray you get the extended summer you're dreaming of... Please just keep it out with you on the west coast, k? For me? Please? ;)
I'm so done with summer... Stick a fork in me! I'm done! Bring on the bulky sweater weather! I will lead the parade waiving my rake as a scepter and wearing a grapevine crown! LOL!
Hugs and love,
Nini

You are my soul sister Nini! Bring on the fall, and yes, the winter! But PLEASE give us snow and not gray drizzle! Anything but the humidity. Ick , Ugh, No.

Yes, Come Fall, Come!! This is my favorite season and even though we don’t have much fall here in Florida, I love creating that feeling and enjoying the arrival of apples, pumpkins, mums and shorter days!

Oh Nini! We are kindred spirits! I would be right beside you that parade. Fall is my always favorite season. I wished I lived further north so it could enjoy for longer. Though here we don't get much snow so it does last quite a long time.
Lisa, I love Ohio in the fall. So full of color and when we travel out to see my daughter, I enjoy going in October for her and my grandson's birthdays because the Pennsylvania mountains are just gorgeous that time of year.
