It is haying time in Wisconsin. Fingers crossed the weather holds till we bale. Put 18 acres or so down. One field was short. We did not spread fertilizer this year. With the price doubled, and availability issues we along with most others decided against it. Just watched a future radar and any rain should miss us. That means I will cut another 10 acres today at my bosses. It is take your tractor to work day.

How exciting Michele, prayers for good weather to be on your side til the haying is done!!

Careful driving to/from work today with your tractor Michele The life of a farmer and HVAC manager is interesting! Good luck getting everything cut and baled before any rains return.

Used to haul hay in my younger days with the hubs. Hard work but was rewarding. Hope this good weather holds outto get it all in!

Michele,,
last year was a bad year for hay, so we decided to not have it cut and bailed,, we brush hogged it and raked into the soil.. Not going to get a crop this year either, so again brush hogged, and till... Last year was to dry and this year non stop rain! It rained yesterday and we got a bit of drizzles today.. Hopefully next year will be back to normal...

Keeping my fingers crossed & eyes crossed for you, that the rain holds off until cut & Bail,,, and get picked up...
Hay prices have gone up, over here...

Well we got rain early this morning, darn it. But we needed it too, it is what it is. Will take an extra day to dry out. Makes today a little less work.

Michele,

We don't start haying until the middle of August. We usually only get one good crop where we live. Have fun and work hard. It is worthy work, I know.

Waiting to cut the rest down now. Rain chances every couple of days. So I am going to hold off till maybe this Friday to cut the rest down. I will take off work if the weather will be good and get er done. We did get the first fields all baled up. What little rain we had did not hurt it. Hopefully it rains good tomorrow. We went from wet to very dry now.

There's nothing like the smell of fresh cut hay! Do you make square bales or round bales? We did a lot of small squares when I was a kid. Now I'm happy to say we have a round baler and the skid loader does all the heavy lifting LOL!

Michele, I hope the weather will continue to work in your favor. Our farmers around here have already had their first cut and bale. It’s interesting to see everyone’s different cutting times.

We do most all round bales now. Much easier, and faster. Though round bales on hill sides can be interesting. Trying to decide which way to back up and kick the bale out so it will sit there and not roll. Depending on weather we try to get a load in of small square bales too.

Wishibg you could have some of our rain. Though it has been hot and dry and when it does rain it is stormy and rains down hard but doesn't last. At least most things are green.
Haying always played havoc with my allergies when we were doing it. Seems I have trouble year round almost since we have moved out here.
