Happy Summer Solstice everyone. It's a lovely day here in Idaho.
If there are any other "Outlander" fans out there, will meet ye at the stone so to sing us a song to the lass that is gone and take a wee trip to Skye.

Happy Summer Solstice everyone! I like to do a Scandinavian celebration for summer and Persian (my husband is from Iran) for the winter solstices. It is horribly hot here in the Chicagoland area, so I'm thinking of making a cold meal for us to celebrate with.

We had another scorcher of a day yesterday. It is always interesting to learn about the old celebrations of the Summer Solstice too. Dawn, what sort of Scandinavian things do you do to celebrate?

Mostly cold foods and of course a strawberry short cake for dessert! We've had scorching hot weather here too and I'm already dreaming about fall colors & pumpkins. Yesterday was my birthday so we went out to a restaurant. Tonight we will have a solstice dinner and maybe I'll put flowers in my hair to celebrate that!

Big outlander fan here, Jean - I'll join ya'll at the stones with no hesitation! After we started watching this series, I found out I was half Scottish from our Ancestry DNA we completed a couple years ago. That explained some of my Scottish gravitation towards things. Happy Summer to all! We've gone from monsoon rain, 60 degree'ish to 85 and 99 later this week. No transition time what so ever to adapt to the heat, but I'll take it. I'm a summer gal, love the long days, the warmth, watching my garden grow and witnessing some of our fantastic sunrises and sunsets here. AND, happy happy birthday wishes, to you Dawn! Love the flowers in your hair to celebrate the solstice!

Oh yes, another Scotswoman here. Our DNA is quite the mix. My bucket list is quite long as I'd love to visit the countries of my ancestors. We are happy to celebrate the many different things from each! I know I'm late to this thread but happy summer!
