Lol, thanks, Grace! I think "sew", too! I'm excited about getting it done this year.

How fun Amanda! I have hand-quilted two quilt tops from my husbands mothers family.

Bonnie,

That is so neat! I won't be hand quilting but my mom does free motion quilting and she's going to help me with it. I can't wait to pick out the fabrics for it and see the blocks cleaned. They are very grungy.

Grace, I choose to go with just cotton. Figured it would be better for my sensitive face!

Amanda, that is awesome. I can't wait to see how it looks when it's completed. You will definitely be busy.

Amanda, glad you mentioned re-working an old vintage quilt.....
Today, on the PBS-Create channel they did a Documentary on Quilts/quilting.. The History of the Quilt, called 'Quilts Matter'.
Quite interesting....

I have handquilted several table runners. It bothers my hands to do too much hand quilting, so I send mine to a long-arm quilter to quilt, then I finish the binding.

Grace, I will have to look for that docu. It would be really interesting! The last few things I have made, I have not done a separate binding, so I am able to use my machine to bind. On two, I used the backing as the binding and one one small project, I just layered batting, backing (face up), then top (face down), sewed the edged and then turned it inside out like a pillowcase. Then I went back and did an 1/8th seam around the edge and quilted it. on a larger work, I would do separate binding, but I would even still have to figure out how to fully machine stitch it b/c of my tendonitis. I am sure it can be done. :)

Linda, my mom started doing free motion quilting last year on her domestic machine (non-longarm). It's really neat what you can do when you drop those feed dogs! I will start doing it this year. Since you are in Lone Oak, do you go to the TOGA meeting? (Treadle On Gathering Academy) It will be April 5th this year. I have never been but since I love vintage machines, a lady I met in quilting class invited me. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Yes, Krista, I will be busy! lol

Last night I started the soaking/cleaning process and it's going really well. I will have to post before/after pics. I did the black/white/grey squares all together, then the mid-range shades, and today I will do the red ones and pray for no color bleeding. I just used a product similar to OxiClean to soak and hot water. The water looked like tea when it was done. Yuck!

I started another corner to corner last night. Even though they are a pain and my yarn gets tangled I am hooked on them. I am going to be making a blanket for myself this time. Just a fun side project. Also ordered another diamond painting! Getting super excited for it to arrive. Hopefully by the end of this week!

A week or so ago, I did a project of making produce bags to take to the grocery store so I can eliminate plastic. I just used scraps and then organized all my reusable bags in one basket for the car. It was a simple project but I am enjoying using them and it makes shopping easy too.

The TOGA retreat is held about 4 miles from me. I have been there off and on during the retreats. Last year I took a sewing machine to be looked at - they always have people there who will work on machines and they take donations. I had to take the machine and stay there until he worked on it and finished it. I emailed you m y phone number. Please give me a call.

Today I am putting together 10" squares from the Farmgirl theme fabric swap I hosted several years ago. This will be one of my Farmgirl Jubilee quilted items to go with this year's theme.

Love your produce bags Winnie. I want to make some bags like that to put my shoes in for when we travel.

Julie -I have cloth bags for shoes when traveling. They are so handy.

Winnie - I love the idea of using baling twine for drawstrings on the bags - we have had lots of that and have just burned it. Great use for it.

Oh Grace I have serious addiction to bling! But honestly who doesn't? Lol!

Winnie, that is such a fantastic idea. Have you tried them out yet? They would even be lovely to take to the farmers market. I just might need to make me one as well. I made something similar when I was in high school for my dance shoes. I still have the bag.

I finally finished my St. Patrick's garland. It didn't turn out how I had envisioned it, but it's still cute. So I think I will still hang it up. Now onto making some Easter decorations.

My bags have been working out great and are also easy to wash and reuse. They are a great saver from plastic bags!

Last weekend, I went to an estate sale in the neighborhood and found this lovely hand pieced and sewn double ring wedding quilt. The only issues with it were a ground of dark brown/red stains on one lower corner area, and I single hole on the other side. Since it was cheap, I brought it home and went to work on those stains. I purchased some BIZ and followed their suggestions to make a paste and rub into the stains, let sit for at least an hour and then wash on a gentle cycle. I did that 3 times and was quite please at how most of the stains came out except for the rim. After each wash, I used a vinegar rinse and then I laid out the quilt on the grass and let it dry in the sunshine. Here is what it looks like now and I am happy with it. On the bed, the stain areas are really hard to find and are easily covered up. I love that it was all hand sewn with tiny stitches! To me, it was worth the long washing process and hole repair.

That is beautiful Winnie! And you did a great job of fixing it up. It's always nice to reuse things and bring them back to life.

I had some left over tulle from a UFO project, so I decided to make my little girl a tutu and matching headband. I'm thinking I will use it for her 1 year old pictures because it's just so dang cute. Can I just say how much fun it is being a mom to a girl! Oh all the fun things I can make!! I'm ready to make her another tutu in a different color.
