Winnie and all our Farmgirl Sisters;
Yesterday at the grocery store I pick up some Apples I needed them for Carmel apples.
I picked up a bag of eight apples. Well, I ate one last night and it was the best apple this old girl has ever eaten in my 66 years. It was sweet, juicy and I noticed red inside as well.
It is a Lucy Rose! Never heard of them but they were yummy. They were a tad expensive but so worth.
I was wondering if any of you girls have ever eaten one?

Debbie

Debbie, that apple sure looks delicious. I haven’t heard of them before but would love to try one out. Next time I go to the store I will see if I can find one.

Debbie, I had a chance to taste this apple and it's partner Lucy Glo when they showed up in our grocery stores in early November. The Lucy Glo has a deep yellow exterior with light red strips and a gorgeous deep rosy red flesh. It is fir, crisp and more tart than the Lucy Rose. They are such beautiful apples and unique coloring makes them wonderful. I read online that both are part Honeycrisp apple stock so that might explain their juicy tart qualities.

Ohhh, I can't wait to give them a try if they come down this far! I'll have to ask my son if he's tried them yet since he's living happily in that area!! Thank you for sharing!

Debbie, never heard of a 'Lucy Rose".. we have a grafted apple tree with 2 types of apples,, however,, since the tree was planted by the origional owner (we are the 2nd owner of this house) we will never know what they are.. but what the deer leave for us is yummy.. I recently made a Apple Betty,,, but then any baked apple with cinnamon spice and brown sugar is yummy! heeheehee!
Enjoy your apples,, are the from the Wenatchee area???

Debbie,
I've never heard of these but will keep a lookout to see if we get any here. I bought some Gala yesterday at the grocers. They are a favorite. The autumn crisp I got at the farm market didn't turn out to be as good as I thought. They must have been in cold storage because they seemed to go mealy quickly. But they did make tasty Apple crisp.

R-U-Preggers??? lololol! Do your pups know??? LOLOLOL!

The Wenatchee/Chelan area is a big Apple producing area.
We get a lot of 'curb side' apple sellers that come over from Central WA.
Let the baked apple season begin! Yum!

I wouldn't think Indonesia had a good climate for apples. Learn something every day :-)

Surprise -- from an article I read it appears that apples and grapes are Indonesia's most common crops.
