I can certainly relate to that one - I've been quanked the last couple weeks! What a great word!

WOW! I am impressed at the amazing words in our language! I am looking forward to being your "word-stewardess" for the next 14 days. Please buckle your seatbelts (but the hippo.....word, really does take the cake!)

I must admit, that I can relate to such a person

I like your first word Jeanette, the ‘excessively talkative’ person describes my DIL, in a delightful way. She is so fun to be around.

I love picturing a "word-stewardess." Let's fly! It might be fun to be seated next to a flibbertigibbet.

I love all of you who can relate. We are kindred spirits! LOL
Well, Christine, let me know when you fly next and I can arrange to be beside you and fulfill this thought! LOL....unless there are turbulence.....then I am a silent bird!
I am telling you all that I cannot top the hi·puh·paa·tuh·muhn·strow·suh·skwipt·a·lee·ow·fow·bee·uh word! I am trying to pronounce it properly, daily! This word has truly captivated me!

Wanda Sue,
I have a DIL like that, too! I hope that nobody silences them or puts a limit on their words-they are "them", in their own special way. BUt....sometimes silence is a nice break :0)

Jeanette I agree, they are absolutely wonderful just the way they are! Sometimes though, my husband and I look at each other after a visit, and say our ears are tired. LOL

I'm grateful for people like you! I'm very shy around people I don't know so it would be great for me to sit next to a flibbertigibbet :)

It has been very rainy here all day-almost made me want to grab me bumbershoot and head outside!

Debbie F suggested I try some Canadian words, as well.
Chesterfield up here-sofa in the US, I believe :0)

Bumbershoot is a funny word. We have a town and county named Chesterfield in S.C.. I have never heard of a sofa called that. I can see the billboard now, “ Come and sit a spell in Chesterfield, where the living is easy.”

A day hemmed in prayer is less likely to unravel.

Debbie,
Funny name for a sofa, isn't it. Maybe "Mr. Chesterfield" invented it?? LOL

I had an uncle that always called an umbrella a bumbershoot. Grew up hearing it but it's still a funny word.

I need another word of the day to figure out what the "bam-boo" in that quote is referring to. He means the plant? In the form of a cane he's sparring with? I would rather have the bumbershoot, thank youverymuch!
