I had a yellow tea rose, and one year it turned a bright red. It bloomed red every year after that. |

The first hot air balloon passengers were animals: In 1783, the Montgolfier brothers launched a balloon with a sheep, a duck, and a rooster as passengers.
The first human pilots were almost criminals: Due to concerns about potential fatalities, King Louis XVI initially considered using condemned criminals as balloon pilots.
Champagne tradition started to appease farmers: Farmers were initially unhappy about hot air balloons landing on their land, so the tradition of celebrating with champagne began to smooth things over. Hot air balloons were used for reconnaissance: During the American Civil War, balloons were used to observe enemy positions. The first hot air balloon flight was in Paris: The first successful manned hot air balloon flight took place in Paris in 1783.
Hot air balloons are the oldest type of aircraft: They were the first to successfully carry humans into the air.
The largest hot air balloon can carry 32 passengers: Along with two pilots.
Hot air balloons can reach incredible heights: The world record for the highest hot air balloon flight is over 21,000 meters (68,900 feet).
The air inside the balloon is hot, but not dangerously so: The temperature is usually kept below 120°C (248°F).
Hot air balloons can be shaped like anything: While most are balloon-shaped, some are designed to look like animals, characters, or other objects. |

Such a lot of interesting things - Our trip to Egypt has an optional tour of a hot air balloon ride. It is not something that interests me, but it might be interested. |
