I have only seen it called "Chesterfield" in the Restoration Hardware catalogs.
We prefer to call it "smackerel" over here :) |

How many people get smacked with a fish that they made a word for it!?! |

Christine, AH! You have heard of chesterfield's. Sorry, that means no new Canadian word for you. I will try harder for the next one. "Smackerel!" Love that word better. Heather, Very good question! I have seen many videos of people being hit by fish. Funny to watch, I would not like it to happen to me, though. I would imagine that those scales, with velocity, as they hit your skin, would leave a rash! |

Morning, Beautiful Wildflowers!
I am feeling a little like this today. It is pouring rain outside and I have housecleaning and trailer-packing to do (Off camping to a local Gospel Music Festival, at the request of the Special Needs woman who lives with us. Should be rainy and fun and I will be taking my paddleboard to paddle in the little body of water at the campground...even in the rain, I paddle. It reminds me of winter coastal days. I love the sound of rain. Sigh. Now that I have spoken of rain, please refer to Wanda Sue's post in Sayings and Quotes to turn your day around from my rainy and lack of energy talk! |

Canadian word (that I know about) Toque (winter hat). I think I have heard my American friends call is a beanie and even a toboggan?? A toboggan in Canada is a sled that we go down the snowy hills on. |

"Toboggan" was also the sled (plastic, without runners) we go down snowy hills on, but this was growing up in Minnesota which I consider domestic Canada; Canada Lite? haha. A nogan toboggan would be something else!
I need to turn to Wanda's quote as well-- I have a bad case of mallifluff and need to finish packing us for a long weekend in Oregon. So far, I've managed by picking a book I love with lots of short sections and allowing myself a "reading break" between each to-do list item checked off.
Hope the Gospel Music Festival is fun! I am picturing the scene in O Brother Where Art Thou where they're doing a river baptism while singing, but that is probably not at all like what you're getting into. |

Thank you Jeanette for another great word and happy memories of sledding. I hope the weather clears up for you and it does not rain all weekend. Enjoy the festival. Chris have fun in Oregon and watch out for all the Wildfires. I am a bit Mallifuffed today as well so I’ll head to the beauty shop and relax for a few hours and get my hair done. Enjoy your day Wildflowers. |

Jeanette that’s a perfect word for when you step outside in this 90+heat! I just went out to fill the bird feeders and wash out the birdbath. Even though I started out energetic, I came back in completely mallifuffed!!
Jeanette and Christine, I hope your weekends turn out better than today. Debbie enjoy your hair appointment, I love being pampered, so relaxing. |

OK, I hope this is not break ing the rules. Because of camping, I will not have any technology with me, so I am going to give three words for the three days.
It is a STOOSHIE (bit of a bother) that I will have to WHEESHT(Be quiet) after 10pm and not be able to play my DOODLESACK (bagpipes)!.....no, I don't play bagpipes. Happy weekend, Wildflowers! |
