Do crows sometimes have a bluish stripe to their feathers? I may have spotted 2 but I don't have the pictures off my camera to show you yet. Hopefully soon I'll have a few minutes. I'm curious if they're crows or not.

The common grackle has blue on their wings. I never recall reading that crows or ravens have blue on them.

I thought I had read they do but now I see both the Crow and Ravens can and here’s why.
Learn something new everyday about these beautiful creatures.

Yes, both crows and ravens can appear to have blue on their feathers due to structural iridescence that reflects light, creating shimmers of blue, purple, and other colors, especially in direct sunlight. The iridescence on ravens is often more pronounced than on crows, giving ravens a more noticeable blue or purple sheen.
How it happens
Iridescence:
The "blue" is not a pigment but a physical characteristic of the feather's structure.
Light reflection:
The feather's surface bends and reflects light, causing it to refract and display different colors, including blue, green, and purple.
Varying color:
The intensity and specific color can change depending on the angle of the light and the condition of the feathers.
Key differences
Ravens
often have a more intense and noticeable iridescent shimmer, displaying more pronounced blue or purple hues.
Crows
also have iridescent feathers that catch the light, but their overall look is often described as having a more matte finish compared to ravens.

Thanks Debbie. So it could be a Raven or Grackle. Will probably no better when Heather can post a photo. I'm dont believe the grackle is not as big as a raven.

The bird in question:

I found this in the driveway. I'm not sure if it's from those birds or different ones:

I love the feather, but do not know from what bird. Do you collect feathers.
I had to look up a Grackle as I have never seen one or heard of them. The birds in your photo are crows I believe but one of the photos it looks like I am seeing some grey color. I am sure Denise will know.
Below is a photo of a common Grackle.

From The Urban Nature Enthusiast
No, a grackle is not part of the Crow family; crows belong to the family Corvidae, while grackles are members of the Icteridae (New World Blackbird) family, which also includes blackbirds, orioles, and cowbirds. Despite sharing similar appearances and intelligence to crows, grackles are a distinct type of bird with different family classifications.

Heather,
The birds in your photos look like starlings. Especially the second photo. The feather is from a bluejay. Rare to find a bluejay feather!

Wow, Denise you sure know a lot about birds. And the feather is fabulous thank you for identifying it for us. We have Stellar Jays here on the coast and I have quite a few of their feathers.

Thank Denise - I'm agreeing that they're starlings after looking at some pictures on google. Unfortunately, I think that means that I don't have any crows at my place. I've been slowly working on the bird badges and taking pictures of all the birds I can find. Too bad I only saw the feather and not the blue jay!!! I never would have guessed that it was a blue jay feather. Debbie - no I don't collect feathers. I used to bring all kinds of things in the house - rocks, feathers, railroad spikes, etc. that I would find but then I'd never do anything with them. I'm trying to break the habit. Right now taking pictures helps LOL!

I had a crazy idea... saw this on pinterest... was wondering if anyone would be interested in swapping shiny objects?

Two ideas; 1) we can sign up and swap one with one partner each... or... I could create one box, I would place the first shiney object into the box and mail it to the next person on the list, then, they would add a shiney object of their choosing to the box and mail it to the next person on the list. When everyone on the list has included their shiney object, it would be mailed back to me. I will randomly draw one name and the winner receives the box of all the shiney objects handpicked from her fellow wildflowers. Thoughts!? If no one in interested, no hard feelings at all. xo
