For many summer is not over by a long shot. But in a little over a week we will no longer be in the dog days of summer. I always look forward to August. Though it is still rather a warm month here, as is September it seems like a segway month into new things. School starts in two weeks here. I don't think I'll ever get used to school starting in August. We always started the Wednesday after Labor day and ended the middle of June depending on how many snow days we had to make up. But I understand why here and the southern states do it due to the heat in June. I hope everyone enjoys this month no matter where you are or what you are doing. |

No winding down here yet -- we are smack in the middle of summer; in the 100s this week. We had a fairly mild (for us) July but August hit with a bang. I read that this is Read a Romance month so maybe I'll find one and sit in front of the a/c and read. I find the new school schedules strange too. We always ended in June and started back the day after Labor day. Now it seems like each town is different. |

| August brought rain and storms with it for us. Hoping that means we will have some cooler temps. Getting the crafting mood. Still working on my cross stitch as well as a few other things. |

| You lucky people that get rain in the summer. We won't see any until probably November. Trying to keep plants watered is a chore; my chard is already fried. Our watering days are Sunday and Wednesday. |

| I don't mind the rain at all because it is keeping temps down. I hope you all get the rain you need. |

LOL! We have a 20% chance on Friday.
Ed always waters the outdoor plants daily and has been watering the yard several times a week in the evenings, and our water bill has gone up quite a bit. I hope everything survives when we are traveling in August and September. |

| Linda I laughed when I read that you bought two "electric" chairs. I knew what you meant but that was not what first came to mind. We have the electric recliner that my dad had. It's really nice. He was able to get it from a company that made a certain kind for those with heart conditions. Had to have his doctor verify etc. Insurance didn't pay for and it but we told him he should buy it if he wanted it. He was brought up during a time when they saved every penny which is a good idea but he and mom could have made things easier for themselves. |

| Whew, down here in the swamp, we are full of mosquitoes, frequent showers some days, lots of lightening and winds to go with those storms too. Then, those pop up showers, as we call them end and the sun come out! Yep. you guessed it. The humidity takes us right into heat index over 100 degrees. Sigh, this is Florida and that is why I can't wait for Fall to show up and give us some cooler parts of our days. |

I like this definition. Makes it sounds like I am getting something done even if it isn't some big project. I actually like to think of my household jobs this way. Makes them sound less of a task this way. Small chunks done through puttering! |

| Puttering is mostly how I get anything done anymore. A little bit here and a little bit there. I also do commercial cleaning— when a commercial comes on i get up and clean. You can get a lot done in five minutes :-) |

| I wanted everyone here to know that I posted the apple swap and apple giveaway information today over on the main Chatroom. If you would like to participate in any of those two things, please sign up and join the fun of our annual apple festival in September we enjoy every year. I posted the two apple events so that people can get their apple goods early and enjoy them all month. |
