Well, I couldn't find a page where there is general bio information of any depth and Debbie said it might be helpful if I introduced myself. So, here it goes.

I live in Gainesville, Florida, married to my sweetie for 35 years and have two grown daughters. Last July 2013, I retired from 34 years of nursing to join my already retired husband. It has bee wonderful to just travel and spend time pursuing various interests! I came to MaryJanes Farm through her December magazine at Tractor Supply about 5 years ago and have loved every minute since! We live in a suburb and I have never owned a farm. My grandparents, however, lived on an old farm in Indiana and we visited there every summer for a few weeks. They had electricity but no running water. There was an outhouse, a refrigerator that required a block of ice every 4-5 days, a big black wood burning stove in the kitchen, a well where we pumped water for household needs, and large rain barrels to collect rain water to run the washing machines and heat to take baths. There are so many vivid memories of those summers and I always loved that farmhouse. Maybe those early experiences created that Farmgirl heart which was just waiting for an invitation to come out and be a farmgirl. MaryJane's philosophy was so inclusive that I knew I had found a place where I belonged!

So, here I am working on learning new things, trying my hand at a bit of gardening, putting up a clothesline, donning aprons, canning, knitting and crafting. SO MUCH FUN!! I guess you would say my style leans towards very simple, prairie inspired , and Primitive. I am pretty much of a plain jane kinda girl and not into frilly and fruh-fruh. The simpler the better as far as I am concerned.

Recently, I picked up MaryJane's Idea book and found myself digging out my embroidery hoop and thread . I used to do embroidery and cross stitch a lot in my 20s and 30s but then lost interest and put it all away. So now, I am working on my stitches doing dishcloths and having a blast. It has been lots of fun.

Other interests include reading, cooking, and traveling with my husband. We are going out to see Glacier National Park on July 21 and I am very excited!! Last year we saw Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons which were just amazing.

Some of you I have met doing swaps and I am excited to get to know you better and meet everyone else. Thank-you for the invitation to join and I look forward to being a part of the Scattered Prairie Gals!!
