Good morning everyone!
I wanted to share this beautiful fall picture from a page I follow, and wow that is really something to ponder. So thankful that Farmgirls are around to teach what we can to the younger generation. Also, it’s refreshing to see that social media is full of young families sharing their experiences of homesteading and homeschooling to teach their children traditional skills and values.
I hope you all have a blessed day.

Actually my children do know what it was like before social media but not my grandchildren.
Those were the best days because we used our imaginations and I believe we were more creative.

That really makes you stop and think. I think our kids are constantly bombarded by so much noise from the internet and social media. I know how I feel after scrolling for only 5 minutes. I would definitely not want to be growing up in this generation.

Life was so simple. Our kiddos did not even get a cell phone until they graduated but homeschooling was online. BUT our kiddos also know what it is like to only get computers for school and they loved making up games in the yard. Kick the Can, Lend me a Wing. It was such a simple time. They had friends in the same boat (town pop.250), so there was no pressure. Thankfully our kiddos have taught their kiddos SOME of the social media....feeding cows and horses, riding bikes in the fields, building forts, etc. BUT WOW! That is a mind-consuming revelation. I am going to try harder to teach my grand babies the old-fashioned ways.

This isn't a social media story but rather a technology story. I'm not sure if I've told it before or not, so sorry if it's a repeat. There's a dairy farm about an hour from here that put in robotic milkers. They had an open house for anyone to stop in and see them working. We picked up my grandpa and took him to see it. He was in his mid 80's and grew up milking cows. He was still driving milk truck into his early 80's. It was quite something to see my grandpa totally in awe watching it. I bet he stood there for over half an hour. On the way home I asked him if he ever thought he'd see a robot milking cows in his lifetime. He said "when I was young and sitting there on a stool milking the cows by hand I used to dream of it, but I never thought I'd really see it!" There are some good things from technology (and even social media) if we just keep it in check.

Oh Heather, I can just see your grandpa now as a kid, thinking, “why can’t they invent a machine to do this, so I don’t have to”.
That is so sweet that he finally got to see it become a reality.

I love that, Heather! Brad used to dream of flying cars! I wonder if that will ever happen?
