It's starting to look a lot like fall around here:

The wood pile is just about finished, the leaves are falling on the yard, the crops are turning

and of course these blasted things are EVERYWHERE!

Now we just need the cooler temps. We're in the 80's this week.

Is that an orb spider, Heather? Spiders creep me out! But I usually let those kind be…they are good for your gardens.

Beautiful spider, Heather! I don't mind spiders especially the garden ones. We did not have any this year. I'm so sad too. Maybe because it was too hot and dry? We are under a fire hazard warning now. No rain for almost 2 months. I sure miss the spiders tho. I liked throwing the web worms in thier webs and watching them scurry to wrap them up like an enchilada to eat later, lol!

You are so funny about the spiders Dianna, I was getting wheezy just thinking about you feeding the spiders. Oh now I will be dreaming about them tonight. EGads!

I honestly have no idea what kind of spider it is. Besides the daddy long leg I don't know spiders. I'm not as bad as Debbie, but I don't like them LOL! If I find them in my house they die. If I find them in the milking parlor or milk room they have to go as well - the inspector doesn't like spider webs. If they're outside, as long as I don't need what they're on or in front of, I let them be. I know they are good for getting other bugs. I've never thought to feed them though LOL!

I have often wondered about the ones that are black and yellow. They're quite striking to see. I usually see them when it gets really hot - July and August, not in the fall like all the others. They make a little zigzag in the center of their web. I would assume they're poisonous the way they advertise themselves but I really don't know.

Heather, it’s funny you should mention the black and yellow spider. My siblings called it a “writing” spider because of the Z pattern in their web. They told little gullible Wanda that you better cover your mouth, if it sees your teeth it can write your name in its web, then you will die! LOL, it’s just a crazy instinct (even though I know it’s not true) that any time I see a large spider, even now, I cover my mouth!! LoL

A day hemmed in prayer is less likely to unravel.

LOL! Siblings can be so mean sometimes!!!!! It's so funny how certain things stick with you from childhood. It took me a long time to step on a crack in the side walk because I didn't want to break my mom's back LOL!
