I didn't join the swap for the table toppers but I have one that I'm using on my table for fall. It was gifted to me by a friend. I have never attempted to make one but I think I may try my hand at it as I love to quilt and a topper seems about the right size for me to handle. I have made crib quilts so I guess it wouldn't be much different. I'm always blessed when someone gifts me something like this because I know the work that goes into them. I also have tons of fabric in my stash so I'm thinking maybe a Christmas one would be nice.

I have some pretty doilies and just wondered if anyone else still uses them. I have some that my grandmother embroidered and some she crocheted and I have been gifted a few by friends. I found these two recently at an estate sale and they are so pretty and were quite inexpensive.

I still use doilies....I thought I was the only one so I'm glad to see that someone else does as well!
I have a pattern for a doily with pansies all around very similiar to yours if you or anyone would like a copy. I made one for my sister years ago and it really turned out pretty! I think I used periwinkle and yellow for the pansies.
I love that table topper! I bet it looks great with your fall/Halloween decorations!

Beautiful topper Denise, and I’ve never seen doilies with flowers around it like that. So very unique!

You should try it, Denise! Christmas is the perfect theme to start with :)

I have some of my grandma's doilies around the house and some put away that I want to find something to do with one day. I'd love to make doilies. I have a pattern book and some thread but I just can not get the hang of working with the crochet thread. I get so frustrated and end up squeezing the life out of my crochet hook so my hand hurts and it never goes well LOL! I attempt it again every now and then but so far it's always the same. Maybe this winter will be different.

I have crocheted some doilies in the past. I have one my daughter did with sunflowers around it. The sunflowers were store bought and she just attached them when she was done crocheting the doily.

I love the table topper it goes wonderfully with my fall decor!

I too collect, use and make the pretty crochet doilies, I just love them. And yes Debbie I love to have your pattern, thank you.
Denise the table topper is so pretty, I have a fall one I picked up at goodwill a couple years ago and I love it! Thank you for sharing.

Great topper, Denise! :)

I use doilies everywhere in my house. I’ve even been known to put them on my Christmas list! :) lol. I love the look of them. When my oldest daughter got married we attached doilies to burlap pillows for the ring bearers to carry. It was so fun and vintage! :)

I am trying to figure out how to repair holes in dresser scarves and embroidered doilies that I have gotten from sales. I found some pretty ones but one is torn on the edge and a couple have holes in the areas you can see.
Any advice on how to repair would be appreciated.

I don't know how to fix them either - those are the ones I have put away for "something" later. I thought of making an apron out of them or I've seen people sew them into little pillows or pincushions or....

So beautiful Denise! I too have many doilies collected over the years but especially when we were in Germany. I honestly don't know what to do with them when I'm gone because my children sure won't use them. Then last week. While volunteering at Pioneer Museum days I met a sweet young lady who was dressed in her 1800's costume showing kids how they used crocheting, intricate knitting and taking skills back then. We had a lovely discussion and shes incredibly talented. She has niece that are quite interested in history and her skills as well! Now I know where to donate mine.
Judith Baker made me a gorgeous table topper a couple years ago and I've used it on our China cabinet since. Its as lovely as yours! I feel quite blessed. I can NOT sew, crochet or knit worth a hoot! Lol

I have made many doilies. I have also made 2 tablecloths out of thread. My fingers do not appreciate the small hooks now. Sure glad I did them when I was younger.

A little rain can straighten a flower stem. A little love can change a life.

I can't imagine making a tablecloth! My hand hurts thinking about it LOL!

I found this and thought it was a great idea for some of the stained/ripped pieces:
