This sounds like a good excuse to try a new cookie recipe. My daughter and Caroline came down yesterday for a week's visit - I will have to see what we can do to celebrate today!

"Mom's Chocolate Chipper Champs"
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/3 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup red and green M&M's (I just use the entire 10 oz bag)
6 oz chocolate chips (I just eyeball about 1/2 a bag)
Preheat oven to 350.
Combine the flour, soda, and salt. Set aside.
Beat together butter and sugar until fluffy; bland in eggs and vanilla. Gradually add the flour mix. Mix well. Stir in M & M's and Chocolate chips. Drop by a heaping spoonful onto a parchment lined cookie sheet ~3 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on cookie sheet for about 3 minutes; remove to wire rack to cool completely.
So easy and so good :)
Obviously you could use regular M & M's but I've only ever made them with the Christmas bags of red and green ones. Christmas makes everything better :) |

Sounds yummy Heather.
Today we bake Chocolate Chip cookies, Snickerdoodles and Peanut Butter Fudge .
Watching old Christmas movies.
My favorite Christmas Movie is The Bells of St. Mary’s with Bing Crosby and Inga Bergman.
I will share a few more but for now I must get back to baking.
What are some of your favorite cookies and Christmas Movies Wildflowers? |

I love Bing Crosby and Ingrid Bergman in anything but I also like It's a Wonderful Life, White Christmas and I think it's called The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant. All the classics are great! |

| Have you seen the “newer” version, “ The Preacher’s Wife”, with Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington? We saw it in the theater when it came out. I got the movie soundtrack….the music was so good! Her voice will give you goosebumps:) |

Debbie I saw it as well and thought it was great. Whitney Houston’s voice was amazing, just loved her.
What about the beloved children’s classics like, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, The Grinch who stole Christmas,and Its a Charlie Brown Christmas to name a few. I never watched any of these movies until I had Kent, and I fell in love with them all and I still love them all!
Kent helped me live a childhood that I never had, and so I am still a child when I watch them every year with him. Kent is 47 so I have wonderful memories of Christmas through him!
Oh let’s not forget It’s a Wonderful Life’

Making some gluten free cranberry white chocolate chip cookies for my granddaughter. Of course I had to taste test since there is no one here to do it! They are pretty good for a first try. Going to box some up to have after our Christmas caroling next week.

| Hello ladies, I know this is a cookie thread, but I also saw where I there was a discussion about movies. I had to jump in and mention “Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas”. It is a Jim Henson production, the one who created the Muppets. This is such a heartwarming story with a great story and good music. I discovered it many years ago and had to buy the DVD for my son when he was little. It is now a must-see in our movie rotation at Christmas. It is based on the classic story “The Gift of the Magi” by O Henry, that we read in school. The children in your life would love it and so will you. |
A day hemmed in prayer is less likely to unravel.

| My favorite cookies are Gingerbread Men. I am planning on making a batch as soon as I get a chance! As for movies, most have been listed. I enjoy all the old classics as well! Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas, Boys Town, A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, It's a Wonderful Life... Oh! And Little Women. The Susan Sarandon/Winona Ryder version from the '90's. I have to watch that one by myself, because I cry the whole way through it. Lol! A made for TV movie called Yes Virginia There is a Santa Claus is a good one and we usually watch Far and Away around this time of year. It's not really a Christmas movie, but there is like one scene that takes place at Christmas, so I associate. |
