Wow Heather, sounds like a great jam-packed weekend! I’m sure this will be a weekend they will talk about for years!

It was a wonderful weekend - and of course I took photos LOL!

Hey Chris - when is your big race? I think you said it was July, but I can't remember if it was the beginning or end of the month.

To all of you lovely ladies from the inside and out, enjoy your celebrations tomorrow! There is much to celebrate! May your country be blessed with peace, through togetherness of living in a beautiful country.

I will be celebrating alongside you, at a lake (no fireworks) with one of my sister's to do 2-10K paddleboard races. Looks like rain may happen but who cares....we will be paddle boarding. My sister is the racer, I make the racers look good by being someone to pass! LOL.

Boy do I miss going to the lake every year. You know I haven't done that since I've been married. 43 years. Of course I married a sailor so I did see the ocean alot and when we lived in Jersey the Atlantic when we went to O.C. but that is not the same as being at the lake. My grandparents lived on the lake in upstate NY and my brother and I lived in the water all summer long. Last time I was there was when my dad passed and our growing up next door neighbor let us all stay at her cabin. But it wasn't the same of course.

A paddleboard race! What fun! Finding my sea legs on one of those is on "The List" after 70.3 Salem (7/20) but going any meaningful distance on a paddle board seems like it will be a multi-season undertaking. I have nostalgia for lakes as well, having grown up in Minnesota, but then I remember that our state "bird" was the mosquito and think I'll stick with salt water!

For my birthday we are going to Eel Lake in one of the state parks not far from the house. We will hang out at the lake, and have a Picnic. Just relaxing and having fun. We will take Bella with us as well, we will see if she will get in the water a bit. She does not like it much.
We have not been to a lake or had a picnic for years. The lake looks nice, and there are walking paths too.

William M. Tubman State Park.

Heather,
C'mon up anytime and I will take you out :0) It is very relaxing. The cares of the world cannot swim, therefore, there is nothing but peace.

~Thanks, Debbie F! Eel Lake looks so beautiful! I can picture a paddleboard on it :0)
~ Debbie K.....let me know your ETA! LOL
~Denise-Yes, the water holds many memories, doesn't it?
~Christine-you are sooooo right about the mosquitos! Salt water really is the way to go to play on the water. My sister and I used to paddle every morning and watch the sun come up, off of Gabriola Island. No mosquitos. Just whales, seals and sea lions. Amazing! You are training for an Ironman?! (70/20) Good on you! Paddleboarding will be a cinch and doesn't really take long to adjust to.
