Seems Oregon is on fire, our State has 20 fires at this time, with evacuations and road closures.
We have 3 of our Farmgirls in the area, April, Debbie K and Cindy K. I have sent messages to all 3 to check on them. I heard from April who said that she and Cindy K are safe but they are surrounded by fires. Within a half hour or more in distance from them. Debbie K. I have not heard from yet but she does not live far from April and Cindy so I believe and hope she is safe as well.
Please let’s keep our Farmgirls in our prayers that they will continue be safe and our firefighters as well who are in harms way.
I will keep y’all posted.

Big Hugs,
Debbie

There was a new fire that popped up on the reservation just north of us yesterday. I got a phone call yesterday with a recorded message saying we were on a level 1 evacuation notice. They got it mopped up fairly quickly, I was surprised. There seems to be a fire on the res just about every year but unfortunately they don't always get a handle on them right away and they become out of control.

I’m curious where this above picture is from? A friend of mine who lives in southeast Oregon took this picture. Their entire area is on notice. Really scary!

Yikes! I hope that everyone stays safe and the fires are under control soon!!!!! It seems there are a lot of wildfires out west - Are these fires natural or started by man? Luckily we usually have enough rain here that fires are not a threat. Every now and then we'll be super dry and some dingbat will burn trash and set a field on fire though. (Nothing on the scale of what happens out west though!!!)

We have a dingbat neighbor like that! They had a fire a few weeks ago...turns out he lit the burning barrel on fire and it was surrounded by weeds...ugh. Brad found him the other day doing the same thing again!!!
A lot of times the fires are started by lightning and sometimes man made. Several years ago there was a guy driving down the highway and his metal rim on his vehicle was sparking fires as he went! So there were several fires caused by him and it grew pretty big. People were passing him and motioning to him about what was going on behind him but he didn't pay any attention.
My daughter's friend was in line of one of the big fires the other day, it was headed onto their ranch and towards their homes and livestock. She hasn't heard any news for the past couple of days. I really hope that they are safe.

So scary when those fires get going! I'm hoping these are out now. I haven't heard anything new on them.

The biggest one in NE Oregon is almost half contained. It's close to 300,000 acres. The last I heard it was the largest fire at the moment in the US. So sad.

It popped up late yesterday afternoon during a bad storm. We can see it from our house but we are safe. April and Cindy are about 25 miles from it.
We had just gone on a little drive out where the fire is yesterday noon. Brad hadn't been out there in awhile and wanted to see some other pinto bean fields. I was thinking the whole time what a tinder box it was and how quickly it would go up if it caught fire...I think it's at about 2700 acres now. They have tankers on it and are getting water out of the river.

Oh my goodness - it just seems to be such an on-going battle! And to think how tired and heat exhausted those fire fighters have to be at this point.

Sending prayers, thoughts for all of you and wishes for some refreshing rain (without lightening!)

How are you all doing with the fires? Praying for you!! My husband used to fight forest fires....I always look at my wedding ring, as a summer of forest fire fighting is what paid for it. I know first hand how scary it can be - I used to live in BC (I'm thankful to live on the other side of Canada now!).
