Went to our first flea market yesterday and got quite a few treasures and these are one of the treasures I picked up for a dollar. Now the woman I bought them from and myself both thought them to be very large knitting needles. Then when I got home and looked them up this is what I found. What do you think?

The items in the image are likely a pair of tatting shuttles or netting needles. These tools are used for creating knotted lace or nets. They appear to be made of wood, with a smooth, polished finish. The larger, bulbous ends serve as handles, while the long, slender bodies hold the thread or twine used in the crafting process. These tools are often used in traditional crafts like tatting, netting, or macrame. Now I have tatted but used very small needles. Whatever they are I love them, perfect for a dollar! |

Wingardium leviosa!
I was unfamiliar with tatting so I watched a video using an itsy bitsy bobbin shuttle to make intricate doilies and I am now picturing Mama Hen tatting a hammock for Hagrid! |

I am familiar with tatting but have never seem anything like these. They don't resemble a tatting shuttle but I don't know if tatting needles, as I m only familiar with shuttles, would ever be this large. They do make large shuttles so they could very well be tatting needles. |

Also it says for making nets. They are long and wide and pointed at the end. |

Christine you are funny, they do resemble wands, lol. I imagine they are for making fishing nets or hammocks Debbie since they are so large. |

But, I do love the wand idea. Anyway they will go nicely in my vintage sewing collection. |

LOL! I think a hammock for Hagrid would be wonderful! I'm not sure he'd get much time to rest with all the shenanigans the little witches and wizards get into though :)
My first thought is that they would be great for turning things like apron ties. I've not learned anything about tatting or macrame yet so I wouldn't know about those. |
