September is here but I will miss the beautiful August we have had. Though September seems to usher in that cozy fall feeling, at least in the mornings here,so I will enjoy that. It also seems to usher in more energy for me with cooler days.
This month starts to bring in the fall colors a bit too.
We have been getting some outside work done and through the week I will get my fall deep clean done to kick off the season. It seems so much changes in September. Our menu starts to change bringing in more comfort food dishes. The wardrobe has subtle changes to less summer and more sweaters and sweatshirts. Waiting to celebrate autumnal equinox.
This month also has so much fun packed into it. Apple picking, getting cider and filling the house with those good smells of making Apple butter and drying apples too!
MaryJane's Apple festival this month and all the fun things it brings and Apple pie Sunday! So much to enjoy in September. I wish you all a beautiful month!

August was our hottest month so far. September is the month we hope will be cooler but it isn't very much. I long for the morning I open the window and breathe in the lovely smell of fall. A botanist once told me that it is the odor of leaves dying. It does make sense but I could hae done without hearing that.

Yes, Judith, July and August were awful down here this year. Totally miserable every day with high humidity and high heat indexes. We actually had a nicer cool breeze early this morning before the afternoon hit with more humidity. I al hoping so much that we don't have a bad hurricane month because September is often a stormy month. The only signs I see of fall are the acorns that get blown off the trees prematurely during a daily storm.

APPLE HARVEST

O down in the orchard
'Tis harvesting time,
And up the tall ladders
The fruit pickers climb.

Among the green branches
That sway overhead
The apples are hanging
All rosy and red.

Just ripe for the picking,
All juicy and sweet!
So pretty to look at
And lovely to eat!

We are having such beautiful weather. It has been cool mornings with quite a bit of dew on the ground. I hope this is indicative of a normal winter, with snow.
