Well it's not really sweater weather here unless you count the early morning. Hopefully cooling down is in the near future. I do love October's bright blue skies though! Today is no exception. I'm sitting here with my tea enjoying the the beautiful scene of the leaves swirling down though they haven't changed color yet. It's still pretty to see the breeze blowing them around.

I love this excerpt from a book I've been reading.

“After the keen still days of September, the October sun filled the world with mellow warmth...The maple tree in front of the doorstep burned like a gigantic red torch. The oaks along the roadway glowed yellow and bronze. The fields stretched like a carpet of jewels, emerald and topaz and garnet. Everywhere she walked the color shouted and sang around her...In October any wonderful unexpected thing might be possible.”
Elizabeth George Speare, The Witch of Blackbird Pond

Picture is not mine but one I found.

Happy October everyone. Are you enjoying the cooler weather? Hope so. Our cooler nights are slowly going way and more humidity. But that is Texas weather. Most likely the coolness will stay longer towards the middle of the month. Have a great October.

Hoping for cooler weather next week. Ugh I hate that we have to wait till November to get fall temps.
I got a phone call this morning and when i answered a little voice asked me if i would come to school today. So I'm heading to Fairbrook frenzy this afternoon. It used to be foxtrot but in the name if unity in the school district decided they all needed to be that same. We just called it field day way back when.

They grew up here but moved for various reasons.
My youngest daughter was in the Navy so got to know Florida
My oldest came from. Colorado so she likes mountain states!
My son lives here but has his own life.

They all have happy lives.

Thank goodness for the internet now days.

We finally got rain last week but it still has been warm. Should cool down next week. I found a recipe for pumpkin pie spice so I'm ready to add it to waffles, french toast and overnight oatmeal.

Happy, Happy October to all of you!! Well, we surely haven't seen any signs of cooler weather down here in the swamp and I just keep hoping we might get at least cooler than 80s into low 90s at times. Plus humidity is still hanging on strongly! I am loving all those various pictures that have been posted too!! They all represent that vibe and gift that only October seems to bring to everyone both of the Mason-Dixon line. This time of year is when I miss living in Virginia where there were leaves turning and chilly mornings that required a sweater.

October
Autumn leaves of red and gold
That crunch beneath your feet.
Pumpkins on front porches,
Candy corn, and trick-or-treat.
Tart and tangy cider, apples
Ripened on the trees.
A hint of winter coming
On the chilly autumn breeze.

Beautiful fall pictures that show changes in the weather. No changes in the weather here in Egypt, it is in the 90s and not as humid as Texas, but still hot hot for us. No rain yet, but northern Evypt should maybe be getting a little rain soon. They say that some areas of Egypt get nothing more than a thimbleful.

Hopefully fall is here to stay. We woke up to 45 and had to turn the hear on but the high will be 64. This is my kind of weather! Maybe when you get home Texas will be cooler. When do you get back Linda?

I love the Fall season. Thanks for the Fall thoughts, everyone.

Well, our Jordan/Egypt trip will be coming to an end very soon - only 2 more nights here and 2 early mornings due to planes to catch. Tomorrow we fly from Luxor to Cairo for our last day in Egypt. Then Saturday morning we have a very early morning due to a 7:25 AM flight from Cairo to London. I had requested a wheelchair to help go from gate to gate between flights in London, and it is a good thing, because my right knee is giving me problems for the last 14 days. I have a feeling that means I will be having some kind of knee replacement or at least some kind of surgery after seeing some doctor(s) when we get home. Then we have a 4-hour layover, which is needed due to a change of gates, which in the London airport means a bus ride from gate to gate, and then a 10-hour flight from London to Dallas. The funny thing is we have a 10 hour flight, but we get into Dallas only four or five hours after we left London according to the clock.

It has been a great trip. While in Jordan we saw our granddaughter and got to meet her fiancé - in fact, they got officially engaged while we were still there. He is very nice, from Sri Lanka, and is involved in the same church as she is. They both were our guides to several sights in Jordan before our tour officially began. One sight they took us to was the Dead Sea.

Continuing onour booked tour we saw several sites in Jordan, our last being Petra, and then on to Egypt. There is a lot of biblical history in Jordan and Egypt. We have seen tombs, temples, Coptic churches and lots more temples. Some of you may be interested in reading about Hatshepsut: The Woman Who Would Be King. Yes, she was a King.

I will be happy to be on home turf for a while!

Take care everyone.

Happy October. Our leaves have been slow to change but I don't mind seeing some green mixed in with the yellows and oranges. I'm more of a summer person so I was a bit sad when we had a frost last week.
Here is the view from my front porch.
