Here we are in June already. Today is the 1st and day 153 of this year already. We will be halfway through the year at the end of this month. I could never understand when mom would talk about how fast the days went when I was a child., to me they seemed to drag by, but I sure know what she meant now. Does anyone have any special plans for this month? Our vacation won't be coming till layer in the year. Maybe a short trip though. We've made quite a few of those for my mil's passing, the funeral and taking care of estate things. We also went on a quick trip to Amish area of Ohio for our anniversay. Doing some late Spring cleaning and reorganized/purged my craft area. Much more relaxing in there and I'm able to keep things like my sewing machine set up. I know Winnie is already having hot days as I'm sure our ladies in Texas are too. It was so cold here last night I thought the heat was going to kick on. It didn't though. We are having 70s and sunshine most of this week. I'm grateful because we had rainy weeks in May. I know it has been extremely quiet here in the henhouse. I hope that just means everyone has been busy. I know Linda was traveling but not sure what everyone else is up to. I hope you all are well and enjoying some beauty in your days! |

| Happy June everyone and I hope you are all doing well. Denise, that is a beautiful sunflower picture and sunflowers remind me of summer and early Fall. Yes, it continues to be hot and humid but we are finally getting rain and that is starting to help ease the serious drought that we have been in for months. The trees and plants couldn't be happier these days!! And I say let's hear it for AC. It is a must have from now until sometime in late October when the air is dryer and cooler at night. I have been using this past week to do some downsizing and cleaning in closets and drawers. amazing what "stuff" hides away for years in these places . LOL! |

| We had a very weird spring this year -- hot then cold, rainy then warm. I always have a game with myself to see if we can make it to June without turning on the AC. Most years we can't but this year I made it, although the weather is now in the 90s so it will be turned on soon. Then I will try to make it until November without turning on the heat. |

| Our spring, too, has been weird…a lot like Judith’s. Although we have had our ac on. I will be living in the 15th to go to Disneyland with my oldest daughter. :) |

We are back from cruising - for a few months at least. The beginning of this month is catching up on doctor appointments- dermatology yesterday for both of us, sinus today for me, doctors and labs for both of us next week. We are trying to plan a drive to Colorado to see Ed’s cousin. Last week we booked another back-2-back cruise to the Mexican Riviera in October/November - we have not been to the west coast of Mexico yet. We already have a 7-day in December booked over Ed’s birthday. That will be 7 cruises this year - wow!
I have been trying to finish UFO projects - I started looking for a pattern and finally found it, but not before I uncovered several more projects. It seems they are never ending. I have also been working on a skirt out of some of the fabrics from block swaps. I have started trying to complete so many projects that I’m not getting any of them done. |

One at a time Linda. Lol. I've been going through things and pulling out unfinished projects to get to work on. I have one cross stitch I started when my youngest was born and that was 38 years ago. Even after 4 grandsons I haven't finished it. Probably time to let go of it. Lol. I don't know if I'd like being gone from home so much but you have seen a lot of our world! |

| I began filling out the annual UFO page for the guild this week. This has gotten to be a chore since I started finishing projects before I started another one several years ago. I got to six, including two I started just in purpose because I was scraping the bottom of the barrel last year. I looked further and found two kits I had won in raffles. Then I found some fabric and pattern stashed long ago and came across some Fancy Forest blocks I made 10 years ago, but where was the pattern? Finally found it, fallen behind a treadle machine and covered in dust. (Must clean there more often). I was now up to nine and couldn't find any more. This morning I looked at the bigger picture -- five drawers of reproduction fabric, so using some of that was now on the list. My husband's box of African fabric that he will never do anything with -- now on the list. One empty space left so I just put down make a 3-yard quilt. |

Denise - As for the cruises, we are trying to travel while we can still get around. My knees aren't as limber as they used to be when I wasn't this old!
Judith - as for making a list of UFOs. I have way too many. And some of them I don't know if I really want to finish. LOL! I have 3-4 Halloween kits and about 4 Christmas kits for smaller wall-hanging size projects. I may add those to my guild list next year since they are smaller, but several have lots of pieces to cut and sew. I have at least 2 quilt kits to make, too.
This week and next I am putting together blocks from swaps or group BOMs I've had for years. * One set of 20 blocks (I had to make 2 so the quilt would come out even) is from about 2017. * Another set of lots and lots of 4" finished triangles from a swap in 2008. I had them all together and the "top" was 50" x approx 90" - wayyyyyy too long for the width. So I took off 6 rows to make it 60" x 70" to start, then I'm adding a 2" black border, then taking apart the 6 rows in 2s and adding a few triangles to 2 of the sets to make them long enough for the sides, using some of the extra triangles I had plus cutting several more to make a final set of 2 rows to add to the bottom. It is confusing - I will post a picture when the top is done. LOL! * A set of 12" R/W/B blocks from about 2018-19 that I am going to put around a patriotic panel - as soon as I figure out an inner border on the panel so the blocks fit evenly around it.
And then there are several clothing items I have been puzzling over. One is making a circle skirt out of an oval vintage tablecloth with a very colorful farmgirl-ish print. I want to be sure I don't cut it until I know I've got it right. Another is adding a gathering channel to a dress to make a loose dress I got in Egypt more fitted. I found a picture of a pattern that immediately showed me what to do to the dress. Now I just have to do it.
Whew! |

| Welcome back Linda from all your travel cruises lately. Sounds like you have seen many interesting places and have already made plans to see more in the coming months. After a 3 week trip to the Baltic Countries in April/May, I am glad to be home and doing some of the many things I have on my list of things I want to start or finish. Plus, I continue to declutter closets and bookshelves and send items off to the Hospice Thrift store where someone else can make use of my donations. I worked as a nurse at our Hospice for 11 years and the thrift store had just opened up and was doing really well. Fast forward to today and it is located in a larger store and still offering people lots clothing and housewares. |

Sounds like a great thrift shop that you are supporting, Winnie. We have a local shop where we shop that supports Women and children.
The Baltic is one place we have not been to yet. So far this year we have been from Buenos Aires, Argentina around the horn to Santiago Chile in January, from Orlando across the Atlantic to Spain in March, and on a B2B cruise to Grand Cayman, Grand Turk, and 2 other places in May. We are going to the Mexican Riviera in Oct-Nov for 25 days on another B2B cruise, a 7-day out of Galveston in Dec, and Italy and Greece in April 2027. |
