Well we have finally made it to my favorite month of the year. Though September seemed to speed by. As all the months seem to these days! I hope this month brings some cooler weather to you who do not have it yet. We have had some pretty days. Today October comes in with a high of 87 but that will change tomorrow and be cooler again. The cooler weather seems to energize me. Maybe that is why I love it so much. I have a very major project going. I am stripping 5 layers of paint off the inside of a Hoosier cabinet. Wanting to restore it to its original look. Someone from JT's workplace had it. Well it was in his wife's family and they decided to get rid of it. So JT knew how much I regretted getting rid of the one he had gotten made for me so he got this. It was a steal at 150 dollars. It's in great shape except for all that paint. The worst is the layer of red. Hard to remove it all. But I will persevere! Anyway I hope you all have a lovely month. I have lots of projects in mind and you? What to do like about this month. What do you look forward to?

I can understand why you like the Hoosier cabinets. Ed has an old Hoosier cabinet at his farmhouse. We found it at an antique/junk shop about 8 years ago. It is made entirely of metal and is painted white. It has the flour drawer/cabinet and came with 2 wooden flip-top recipe boxes complete with some handwritten recipes. There were also some hooks along the back wall. It is an interesting piece.

I have always wanted a Hoosier but never had space for one so Oh well -- maybe in my next lifetime. Good luck with the refinishing, I know how much work that is. I have an old Deco buffet that had 5 layers of paint before I got down to the lovely birch underneath. I can't believe it's October. The weather makes me think it's still July.

I couldn't find a place for the one I had and regretted getting rid of it so much when I maybe could have stored it for a while before deciding. So I really hope I can get this looking good again. We have had to replace some of the wood on the drawers. Was necessary as I want to be able to use it. I will have to replace the flour bin and bread drawer. They are too far gone. I may not bother replacing the flour bin as I don't store my flour that way. I'm sure I'll find a use for its space though. I can't do much of it at a time but will work on it as I am physically able to get it done.
