Happy September! I just noticed in a language arts lesson about Greek/Latin prefixes that sept = 7, oct = 8, nov = 9, dec=10 but the "brrr" months of September is the 9th month, October the 10th, and November the 11th, December the 12th. Why are they all 2 ahead of their name? Romans started their calendar year in March and marked each month with the new moon. This gave them 10 months and an unorganized 2-3 month winter they didn't keep track of because they weren't farming. Around 713 BC they added January and February.
