I can't remember if I purchased these or if they were in the items I inherited from my grandmother. Either way, I've never seen them in use & I don't know what a completed needle project looks like. The instructions say "The Shuttle Tension Art Needle". Anyone have any experience with this needlework? I know I can do an online search, but I'd prefer to start here with my farmgirl "sisters".

This is the practice window...hope it works.

Sunshine, those are excellent pictures & help to clarify so much! Thanks for taking the time to post!
I'd love a copy of the "Tru-Gyde" hooked rug patterns, perhaps a barter? The item I have in mind to trade is one of the needles shown in the picture on my original post @ top of page, and a page of the instructions that came with the needles. Let me know...thanks.

here are the tools I have like this

http://sunshinescreations.vintagethreads.com/2006/08/woman-at-mary-janes-farm-site-have.html

this is a little different than rug hooking. As rug hooking is done from the front and you pull loops up between fibers. with this you punch through from the back and you may sever and break the fibers of the backing cloth.

have a lovely day and may God bless you and keep you safe

Autumn, your pictures are awesome and I really appreciate that you took the time to post them. Yes it helps alot! Your needles seem more complete than mine somehow. The wooden ones are beautiful. Thank you so much for showing these. I am going to pursue this though it may take me some time to post again.
Have a blessed week.

I am so sorry I had forgotten this. I have lots going on and it just slipped through the cracks.
Actually I have 2 sets- one wooden base and one is just sort of a cylinder with attatched needles.
The instructions are not particularly helpful- mostly the picture helped me understand what they were for and how to use them.

Looks to me like 2 variations of the same type needlework- sorry no finished work to show you. I did start a piece and it is exactly like rug hooking-the llook anyway.
Hope this helps!
Blessings

Well that sounds like a wonderful tool. I'd love to know more about the wooden base...& maybe I'm being hasty about not needing additional instructions. Probably a good idea to get as many perspectives on the instructions as I can. So Autumn, if the offer is still open, I'd really appreciate it, thanks.
Hey Sunshine, ever done any punch rugs? I'd love a photo of completed work if one of the farmgirls out there has a sample.
Thanks so much for the help Autumn & sunshine.

I have a similar set- purchased at a yard sale.
It is similar to needlepunch embroidery, I believe. The needles attatch to a wooden(mine is wooden, anyway) base and apparantly you use burlap or some similar open weave fabric for the base.
I'll dig mine out tomorrow and try to get a copy of the instructions on the box. Mine was completely intact.
Blessings
