Since I'm a newbie at this type of thing, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Bellagirl #1443, Carmen Holland, MI

Posted - Apr 28 2010 : 4:59:39 PM I started mine a couple of years ago. I don't use a container, I have four posts and wood sides that I can remove to contain the pile. I started with lots of brown matter...dried leaves, grass clippings and some kitchen scraps. You can compost anything from the kitchen including paper, just no meat or oil or bones. I layer these ingredients and water thouroughly. I just keep adding and layering and watering. I will occasionally stir it up with a shovel and rake. I have beautiful black compost at the bottom of the pile. I use it in my garden and it is awesome stuff! It is also full of the biggest night crawlers I have ever seen!
