What are some of your favorites? I have some seeds coming for next year, including Grandpa Ott's morning glories (never grown them before) and Love Lies Bleeding (not sure where I'm going to put a plant with big weepy red tassles but I had to give it a try).

What's in your heirloom garden?

I'm missing flowers already and it is only November! I love hollyhocks, delphiniums, irises, daylilies, and I guess every other flower in there is! I guess I'll have to look at the pictures I took this summer of various gardens, including my own.

My newest favorite is moonflower.

The night time moths LOVE it!

It's neat to stand there and watch the blooms move as they get ready to open

ALso like 4'0 clocks. They smell really sweet and attract the same moths.

And safflower. They are super hardy and sprout very quickly from seed.

And I like how they look really different from all the other flowers

hey kimberley we use nasturtiums as a trap crop for those insects. we plant them off to the side of the veggie garden and the bugs prefer them to the veggies.it is part of our companion planting program here. we put things that help each other together in the garden beds. it helps a lot. we have my fathers rose it is a peace rose. we have had it for 36 years now. very special to me. we also went to the farms being tore down here for urban growth and gathered all the plants and trees we could. the construction co. let us harvest for free. lots of old plants and trees.the spring helebores are favorites to me. first to bloom after the dark days of freeze and snow.sherrye happy days

I love tiger lillies, they used to grow wild at my grandmas all through the woods. So pretty.

I won't be doing nasturtiums again next year, I think. They took over the garden space they were in and attracted tons of little aphid type insects. Unfortunately, I have about four packages of seeds I picked up, so I'll have to find a new home for those.

Hollyhocks, Cosmos (until they start to fade and get all ugly!), Old heriloom Poppies, and Roses ROSES ROSES!!!! I have a passion for roses! OLD roses-- Bourbons, Moss, antique French etc... Not such a big fan of the more modern varieties, though I DO like David Austin English roses, but they are a cross with old antique roses and modern high-breds. They have the beuty (and usually the fragrance) of the old roses, but the hardiness and disease resistance of the modern roses. Really though, I love all flowers in general.... but they MUST have a smell!! (a NICE one! LOL!!)

I don't have a favorite flower, only because I don't remember the names of the ones I like. But, I love to have flowers growing when I can.

I grew the Love Lies Bleeding in a big pot this year. It was wonderful draping over the sides.
