Posted - Nov 19 2009 : 5:04:21 PM Diane, It is just very wet and windy. I think all the trees that would have come down did 3 years ago. LOL The pond is huge and the waterfall rushing and where the creek comes through the property to the pond is all under water. But nothing too unusual. The wind blew the roof off the goats pen so they are in a stall in the barn. haha. They are so funny. the power only went out one night and so far---knock on wood---everything is ok. MB

Posted - Nov 19 2009 : 08:25:05 AM I can't find the pic, it may be on my DD's laptop as she used my camera. I'll go down today (if it ever gets light out!) and see if it's still in any shape to be recognizable.
We have had the torrents of rain for sure. The creek did jump the bank, but has receded quite a bit now. The good news is the barn is dry and the footbridge is still in place. I knew it would be, as we prepared for the worst by carrying forty laying hens up the back of the property to an outbuilding on higher ground! But by the look of the satellite pic this morning, we aren't done with it yet. We are on the west side of the island so we didn't get the winds, but the gulf islands got slammed pretty good. Lots of downed trees and thousands without power, no ferries to the island since yesterday aft. How are you making out, are you staying dry? |

Posted - Nov 18 2009 : 11:56:14 PM Soon Marybeth, soon! Actually I have a photo of a plant that grows by our creek here that I keep meaning to upload to see if you can identify it. Hopefully I can find it! It gets about six feet tall, has leaves like a lily on steroids and gets insignificant, small white flowers close to the stock. Darn, I'll have to find that pic! Di |
