I highly recommend everyone see this movie. It didn't tell me much I didn't already know, but boy am I mad at how just a few big corporations are controlling our food supply-from worker and animal abuse to bringing farmers to their knees through what should be groundless lawsuits. A MUST SEE for everybody!

I watched this recently on Netflix instant. It just further cemented what I had learned from reading Barbara Kingsolver's 'Animal, Vegetable, Mineral.' It's really awful how things are allowed to be with our food in this country. I'm trying to take small steps to eat better. Unfortunately where I live, grocery stores are slow to offer anything organic of local. Also, tons of farming is done locally, but for big money-making crops like corn and tobacco and such. Not so much for eating. I'm hoping to become involved with the tiny, but growing farmers market that comes around in the summer. |

Got the movie ordered through our library. They are "borrowing"it from another library. Supposed to be in on Fri. We are supposed to get another big storm on Thurs and Fri. Sure would like to have it to watch while snowed in. We'll see.

Ok, I am nervous to watch it. I am about as organic, heirloom, produce my own, as they get but I have become very distrusting of agendas. Al Gore, for instance, Convince me! My mother said, it was so horrifying. I believe we need to do things, the way we Farm Girls believe, because it is healthy and self reliant, builds our self esteem, teaches our families, not because we are completely terrified and grossed out.

Yep, it's a must see for everyone. We watched it together as a family so that our older boy (the others are too little to understand) could really see what I've been talking about for so long!!

We watched Food Inc for free on hulu.com. You don't need a subscription! I think it's still there.
(and the movie makes me so mad!)

I checked 'Food, Inc.' out from the library... free... 21 day loan. I now have a hold on 'No Impact Man'.

Good thing we're farmgirls and can make our food from scratch! I've infected my two teen daughters with the "know what's in your food, and who made it" bug -- but it's hard for them when most of their friends haven't yet been infected. My fav part of the film was seeing Joel Salatin after reading some of his books -- he's a hoot -- and really speaks from his heart. It's just another example of how corporate greed will hurt us -- unless we stop giving the corporations the power. Buy local, make from scratch, plant your own garden, live more simply, encourage others to do the same. Gee, kinda sounds like what Mary Jane's been telling us, eh?! Farmgirls will save the world! Or at least, knit some sense back into it...

I just watched it on demand (from Netflix) too and it was eye opening. I kinda already knew this stuff but to see it all put together and so dramatically shown. Even my husband, who thinks I'm weird for always wanting organic food, is now reading labels. I went to the film's website and signed up for updates.

Nancy, where did you see the movie? Is it on DVD? Believe it or not, our Doctor recomended we see the movie. Said we would probably have to go to Tulsa to rent it. That is 75 miles away. I might check with Amazon.
