Posted - Jan 01 2010 : 09:16:21 AM How would we go about looking for a used greenhouse? I tried an on-line seach but most were hundreds of miles from us and way too big. A nursery owner near us was considering selling an older one but changed his mind. He said he thought we should be able to find one for about $500, but didn't give any other clues.

Posted - Jan 03 2010 : 4:21:58 PM how about farm and garden on craigs list. just state where you live. we have taken old 10by 20 foot old costco fabric tents and covered them with plastic. around here they are everywhere in yards with no fabric on them. the wind here usually tears them apart in a year of use. they make spacious greenhouses.self supporting tube frame.happy days sherrye |

Posted - Jan 01 2010 : 2:40:01 PM If you can't find a used one, start collecting sliding glass doors, thats how we made ours.We built a frame with the dimensions of the doors in mind, and using the metal frames that incase the glass, it worked great, and most of the doors were free if you hauled them away, we got several from a door company for $5.00 each, and many maore from home owners that were up-grading to frnch doors, or double pane. Good luck.

Posted - Jan 01 2010 : 1:30:40 PM Put an ad in your local Shopper or Penny Saver and explain how you will remove etc. You could be doing someone a big favor if they never use it. You see a lot of those ads for above ground pools. "Free if you remove" Also, if you are not too particular about the condition (maybe a few panes missing) mention that in the ad also. There could be someone out there that has one but may not think it is "good enough" to advertise. I would expect to run the ad for several weeks though. You just need that one person who has what you are looking for so you have to increase your opportunities for success. Many weekly papers run multiple week specials. (I work for a Penny Saver, hence my suggestions :)) Good luck!
