I love it when it rains nice- especially when it rains for a long period of time and I can tell the ground has had a nice drink. I know I won't be needing to water my garden now for a while couple of days which is really nice.

However the rain did show me that my rain gutters must be super clogged. That doesn't surprise me with the sheer level of disrepair this rental house is in. Not that my landlords are bad people- a lot of these things you don't notice until you have lived here a while.

I have cleaned out two downspouts on my gutters and I believe that helped, but everything was so wet I couldn't tell if they had stopped overflowing or not. I am suspicious that there is a lot of gunk still in the gutter so I really need to borrow someone's ladder and just get up there and see what can be done. Once I get it clean I really want to buy some totes to catch the rain. I doubt that we would have enough to justify buying actual rain barrels.

Yeah - I have some extra I would love to get rid of too!! I'm hoping things clear up a bit so I can finish planting.....We will see.
I was running around on Thursday wearing flat shoes (usually wear clogs) and long pants and I ended up soaked to the knees - I felt like I was in grade school again.

I can send you more rain too.....inches of it! Like Heather, I still don't have my garden planted either. And even though we cleaned our gutters out last weekend they are running over again - mostly from the sheer volume of water falling from the sky. Ughh!

Cheers! ~ Marilyn

I wish we would get some rain. It's been a week or so. It's really dry. But everything's coming up. And our gutters in back need some serious cleaning out too.

Hi Alee, I see you are in Billings, MT - I am in the Black Hills. We are sort of neighbors. Did you get yesterdays big storm. I did a post on what is growing in my zone 4 garden and showed the "river" the storm made. www.DakotaGarden.com
