Posted - May 29 2010 : 08:15:46 AM I posted a photo on my blog, and will post more later today. Hail started as golf ball size and went to cherry size. One 20 minute hailstorm, and my garden needs to be started over almost. Wahhhh!

Posted - May 31 2010 : 05:19:01 AM Forgot to ask. I have some extra seeds. If you tell me what you want or need I can mail you some to help with the cost. I understand it would put you 4 or so weeks back using seed, but if I can help in anyway let me know.

Posted - May 31 2010 : 05:17:42 AM I understand that is very upsetting. I do hope a re-plant works out well for you. Do you think you can salvage any of your plants? I hope so. Wish I was close so I could come help you out!

Posted - May 30 2010 : 10:40:43 PM Same thing happened to my Aunt over in Aurora, Colorado - last year. She had a beautiful garden starting and wham! The ice balls took everything out down to two or three inch stubbs. "What are you going to do?!" I asked her. "Just start over again. What else can you do?"
Man, I'd hate to be dependent on that for my living like those early homesteaders! They didn't have a local grocery to run to if their garden or crops failed. Yikes! Carla

Posted - May 29 2010 : 4:15:37 PM Oh nooooo!!!! I have a dread of hail stemming from reading The First Four Years, by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the one about her early married life where everything seemed to go wrong including hail. So sorry Jeannie!! Amy Grace

Posted - May 29 2010 : 2:48:33 PM Well, today I cleaned out the ripped to shreads leaves, and planted new plants, and tried to doctor the tomatoes that are so big. In Florida, this is almost too late to plant, as the warm nights does not let them do as well as the cold late winter and spring nights. Plus the bugs are beginning to show up. But I did replant, and will hope for the best. Thanks for the encouraging words, my friends!

Posted - May 29 2010 : 1:57:21 PM Jeannie, I am so sorry too. That's got to be heartbreaking to see. All that hard work gone in a minute. But you just have to start over and do it again. This weather is so wonky lately.

Posted - May 29 2010 : 08:54:58 AM Jeannie, SOOOOOO sorry!!! I hope that your re-plant is successful. We have planted seeds but not plants yet. We ALWAYS have a late killer frost the end of May, early June and I don't put plants out until around June 10th. Hopefully all will go well . . for you and for us! CJ
