Every year I grow morning glories and moonflowers around my patio so that they climb in the railings for a beautiful privacy screen.
This year I forgot to grow some but my Aunt gave me some cardinal flower vines to grow instead. I planted them and they are doing wonderful however my "volunteer" Heavenly Blue morning glories and white moonflowers also grew so I have a beautiful red, white & blue privacy screen.
I am already planning to purposely plant these 3 varieties together next year, however I thought it was so neat I just had to share with all of you!
P.S. what else is nice is the morning glories bloom in the morning, the cardinal flower during the day and the moonflower at night, so there is a constant show.

How pretty, I love garden "accidents".

Forget buns of steel, I'd rather have buns of cinnamon!

Lorie, that does sound like a beautiful combination. I love my cardinal flowers so much already. I don't know why I have never had them before.

I love that idea!! I want to grow some next year because I have the PERFECT front porch for it and I would love to have the added benefit of difused light/heat during the summer and a private but nice place to sit in the evening. What a great idea!! I am going to buy seeds this fall and let them grow inside to transplant in the spring.
