Posted - Aug 01 2010 : 06:05:41 AM My first tomato turned orange the other day and two days ago it was red but still hard so I am thinking today should be the day for our first garden tomato!! I am going to go check on it a little later. I am so excited!! YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!
And soon we will have so many! Vines are LOADED! Hopefully we will have lots of good growing weather in August because September will be our first freezes! I can't believe that we have already turned the corner on summer!!! AHH!

Posted - Aug 01 2010 : 1:07:19 PM Oh No! That's so sad! And the little neighbor girl must have been so proud/excited! Nora loved the tomato- though I should have let it ripen another day or two. It wasn't as tasty as I had been dreaming of. Oh well!

Posted - Aug 01 2010 : 1:02:49 PM Well, at least Nora loves tomatoes. My mom grew some tomatoes in Maine once -- very hard to grow where I grew up. She had some that were just turning red, when the little neighbor girl brought them in to us in her little hands to show us the green apples she had found. I don't think my mom every tried tomatoes again. Suzanne |

Posted - Aug 01 2010 : 06:08:32 AM Alee, we've had only 5 tomotoes, but like you, our vines are loaded. We've had Early Girl and Silvery fir so far. Some of our plants are blossoming but not setting tomatoes. It's been a tough summer on the plants. Enjoy that first bite. Suzanne |
