My basil is huge and nicely bushy--amazingly so--and I owe it all to those pesty little black beetley-things. Really! A few weeks ago I noticed that my basil was being eaten like crazy by these little bugs and now the bugs are diminished and it's huge and bushy. I know you're supposed to trim off some of the top buds of basil plants to encourage growth outward, but I'm always too chicken to do too much. Well, thanks to those pests, we'll be enjoying lots of basil this year!
