Mother nature finally got through to my tomatoes. It seems like all of them are racing each other to ripen as quickly as possible. I should by this weekend have a largish basket of ripe tomatoes. I am thinking a lot are going to get dried for use in winter soup and stews. I don't have the materials to can this year which is bumming me out- but I will get them next year!!

We're in an apartment right now and I miss my garden at my old house but I did manage to plant 7 Roma tomatoes on the south side at the office. I got them in the ground late but I think they know they don't have much time because they just took off and grew. I've got tons of flowers and probably about 4 small fruits. I'm hoping that since they are on the south side of a metal building they will continue to do well even when the weather cools off. We are also planning to put up some hoop houses over them this fall. Keeping our fingers crossed at least. Melody, I would surely take some of your bounty if I lived closer!

That's amazing Melody! I made a mistake this year in where I planted mine- I planted them in probably the coolest part of my yard! OOPS! Next year they get the part that is baked to a crisp!

Alee---I am not very far behind you as far as ooodles of soon to be ripe red tomatoes-The thing is we DON'T even like tomatoes. I have always been very lucky growing the darn things and so I do it because my in-laws LOVE fresh tomatoes and my sister-in-law is the family salsa maker. I even end up depositing baskets on unsuspecting neighbors porches as well!!

So every year, like clock-work, I plant two or three against the garage Last year Alee, I end up with over 60-tomatoes one one plant---Funny huh??
