Posted - Aug 26 2010 : 07:23:58 AM Here are some pictures I took last night. We rent and I HATE how the garage looks. It is boxy and the previous owners shot the walls full of holes (gun or arrow or ?) Anyway the sunflowers are my attempt to disguise the uglyness of the garage. Next year I am planting more- lots more!
Notice the pretty bee? I wonder what variety she is!

And My little Garden Helper:

And my apple tree that desperatly needs harvested:

Posted - Aug 28 2010 : 06:43:35 AM Alee -- they are beautiful as is the little helper. I too have wondered at the kind of bees that I have seen. I'm delighting in them this year -- even enjoying them in the clover. My sunflowers are starting to bloom -- so pretty. Suzanne |

Posted - Aug 26 2010 : 2:22:39 PM Lovely! We are renting right now too but we are in a four plex and right off of the interstate. Talk about hating it! Ugh! But the rent was cheap and it got us through the horrible winter last year. We're looking at land now so hopefully will be out by this winter. Love your sunflowers and the little helper.
At our house in Colorado we used to get those bees on our spirea. She has a red stripe on her abdomen? I used to wonder about them too. Friendly things, I could only determine shes some kind of bumble bee but a small one.
