I had bought a big bag of field peas Wed. at the farmer's market. So yesterday I took them and went outside to the turkey pasture. I had put Abby and Sandy the goats up there earlier. And Bubba came. And some cats. And some chickens. So they all gathered round the chair and watched me shell peas. The goats had their noses in the bag of course. The turkeys were all looking at me like I might have something good for them. They are so cute. I love their eyes. But their beaks are alot bigger and more powerful now that they are older. It hurts to be pecked by a turkey.

Anyway, it was very peaceful other than all the animal noises all around me. And Bubba panting like he's going to die any second. And biting at flies and scratching all over. Up and down. Here and there. I have decided that he needs to move to the city and be a condo dog. He needs to be inside at all times. He hates the heat. He hates the bugs. He's just miserable outside. I have to drag him outside. Poor dog. So does anyone live in the city in a nice air conditioned condo that needs a lazy lab? I'll be glad to pack him a suit case and put him on a bus today.

It really was nice sitting out there among all my critters. I should have brought Mazie and Roxie over too. Then the whole gang would have been there.

The peas were really good too. I fixed some for dinner with rice and pork chops. I love peas and rice. I put 2 bags in the freezer too.

Anyone else shelling peas?

Kris

Our peas are already harvested and shelled. I usually plant an entire 2nd crop of them but our season started so late this year (with all the rain we had) that I didn't get to this summer.
I do love shelling peas though- so fun to do with my kids! :)
