So this is the first year we have planted pumpkins and they are doing well. When do we harvest them? After they turn orange? After the first frost?

Thanks! ~Kim

Thank you! We planted some Connecticut Field, a Cinderella and one called Orange Smoothie which is a little smaller than volleyball size. My grandsons are getting anxious and by your description I think they are about ready.

What kind of pumpkins did you grow?
We planted Galeux d'Eysines they're warty and supposed to be good for baking but it doesn't look like well get any. The weather's been hard on them.
You want them evenly orangey, firm-kinda hard to dent. Want to harvest them before a hard frost. Light frost will damage leaves but the fruit will be fine
