Posted - Jun 29 2016 : 2:13:19 PM I planted some Goji berry rootstock this spring. I've only had the berries dried, and was excited to try them fresh. They're BITTER!
They taste wonderful, until you swallow them and the bitterness is enough to make you stop eating them. I thought, perhaps, I harvested before they were fully ripe, so I waited for them to be VERY ripe. The initial taste was better, but the bitterness remains.
Does anyone have experience with growing gojis? Do I need to just dry them? Maybe I need to remove the seeds? Most of this harvest has gone to waste, because I can't eat more then a few thanks to the bitterness.
Please help! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Posted - Jul 07 2016 : 06:55:32 AM I grow them and drying is the best. The bitterness is an acquired taste. I used to think they were gross fresh but now I like them. Also put them fresh in smoothies.
Give thanks to yourself everyday for all the wonderful things you do! |
