Posted - Aug 25 2025 : 3:47:59 PM For those of you following Winnie, aka RedTractorGirl… it’s almost Apple harvest season… Check out her post…
Unfortunately our grafted apple tree got visitors from Cottel moths!! Uugh!! So hubby had to do several rounds of spraying ( I chagrin at the mere mention of insecticide).
And,, on top of everything else, we didn’t do selective pruning so our tree got over loaded with fruit… That all being said… we did get some help from migratory workers… aka deer!! They had such a delightful time ‘pruning’ our leaves on the trees… …

Notice the missing leaves? This is how I know the apples are not ready yet! When Bambi and friends eat only the leaves!

Posted - Aug 27 2025 : 1:01:26 PM Wow Grace, your tree is full! Hopefully no deer decided to sneak in my yard and eat my apples. I only have 3 on my cute little tree! Are you going to make anything with all your apples?

Posted - Aug 26 2025 : 09:17:09 AM Most of ours are on top. But yes the Deer love our apples and we have seen them on their hind legs it’s so cute. They do share some of the apples with us. I did not know that about the leaves, great to know.

Posted - Aug 26 2025 : 04:39:34 AM do you ever see the deer standing on their back legs trying to reach higher apples? They can actually walk a little ways like that, just to reach apples. Deer here are under the flower crab, at all hours of the day, eating those apples.
