Posted - Apr 26 2006 : 6:48:43 PM Amy- Thank you for posting the eatwild.com link! I found quite a few farms here in Georgia that are not too far away. I have been busy trying to plan a yard sale Friday-farm trip day!!

Posted - Apr 26 2006 : 3:15:03 PM Thanks for both links ladies, I'm still having a hard time finding stuff in my local area, but I'm more motivated to start searching more diligently to support local farmers. (They're here, it's just that we have no major resource to find them like they have in some areas.)

Posted - Apr 26 2006 : 10:11:17 AM Wow.
I came upstairs to use the computer to share several articles on buying local food from the most recent version of Sojourner's magazine http://www.sojo.net and was wondering which section of the Farmgirl connection to post it in - I landed on "across the fence" and saw your article on the same topic.
Cool! Many of the themes in the article you posted are echoed in the Sojourner's articles this month. Thanks for posting this link!
The whole issue in Sojourner's is dedicated to the spirituality and ethics of our food distribution system. You have to register to read the articles but there's no cost.

Posted - Apr 26 2006 : 05:07:52 AM What a brilliant article! Thank you for posting the link. I have added it to my favorites so that I can go back and reread it. This kind of thought process seems to resonate in me. I must be a "real farmgirl" trying to exist on my little half-acre in Georgia. I am going to start looking for signs and support my local farmers. Karin |
