Posted - Sep 09 2010 : 6:34:49 PM I know we have several of us out there!
Traditional - Non Traditional - What have you- Come and share your classes, trials and tribulations.
There are few things in this life that can be as frustrating and exciting as attending school.
I personally am a non-traditional student. I am still working on finishing up my degree due to many starts and stops. Right now I only have 4 semesters left. YAY! Bring on graduation!!
I am taking two accounting classes, Statistics, Biology, and economics for a total of 5 classes and 16 credits.
Already I have several deadlines I am scrambling to achieve. I just got my first of three biology chapters finishes that have to be finished by next Friday. I should be able to wrap this studying on Sunday. I just have to make sure I am not forgeting one of my clases. I am lucky that all my classes are via the internet (doing homework at midnight and getting credit for it! yeah!). It really takes the pressure out of the schedule and saves on gas. It is a bit more expensive to register online, but I think it's worth it.
So what about you gals?

Posted - Sep 06 2012 : 6:52:07 PM Keep up the hard work, ladies. You can do it! I graduated from college 38 years ago in elementary education. In 2005 (yes, that year is correct), I decided to get my Masters in Educational Leadership. I drove 165 miles, round-trip three days per week, and taught school full-time. I did this for one year and finished! (At McNeese, Marly)I graduated in December, 2006, while teaching in VA. My Masters is from LA. Then, in 2011, I moved to NY, and am retired apparently, since I cannot find a job here!!!! So, if I can do all that at that age, I KNOW you can. Congratulations to all of you.

Posted - Sep 06 2012 : 10:49:33 AM We'll see Marly- the only masters for business is housed out of Missoula which is about 5 hours away. They are trying to bring a Masters program to Billings in the next 2-3 years so I might wait for it. I don't know. I will continue on and try for my CPA though.

Posted - Feb 24 2012 : 05:30:17 AM Yikes Patricia! You should report him to his dean. I had a teacher that was like that last semester and we all started reporting her actions to the dean and she actually changed before the end of the semester!

Posted - Nov 16 2011 : 10:07:16 PM I'm new, a non-traditional student in TX. I'm enrolled in a distance ed Coaching academy - after getting my BS at local University. This is way harder because people are monitoring you ( you are recorded and such). I don't even like hearing my own voicemail!! But, doing what I have to for my cert and credit w/International Coaching Federation. I totally empathize with every single lady in finals /end projects. I had/have ADHD & an LD that really made college a challenge...I learned so many coping strategies that I want to give them back - give what I was given. Been thinking on expanding my clients to working with regular college students too because of my past. Haven't decided yet, but its 'in the oven'...we'll see. Right now, I just have to do the next thing & write this paper! I was hoping we wouldn't have any of those in this year long deal. Oh well!

Posted - Nov 11 2011 : 1:34:49 PM Great to hear from you other college farmgirls!! I am REALLY looking forward to winter break. I feel like a lot of my classes have front loaded on the beginning of the semester and now I am starting to have some breathing room- but in all reality I think they have just gotten me used to the schedule! lol Thank goodness for good study partner friends.
I am going to have a full spring semester and I am debating whether I should take any classes over summer. I will definitly be taking fall classes and then in the spring I will be taking the CPA review course which is only one class but is 6 credits! In the fall I will also be taking the H&R Block course in order to learn what one of my classes should be teaching me...but isn't. It's so frustrating! So not this coming tax year but maybe in 2013 I will be earning some extra money in the evenings doing taxes while I study for my CPA test. It's such a scary prospect thinking I am almost done with school. I am really going to be starting my career. It's crazy, exciting and terrifying!

Posted - Nov 11 2011 : 1:18:22 PM Congratulations on senior status, Alee. My school is on a quarter system, so I'm in my last week of classes and will be starting a new quarter after Thanksgiving weekend. These shorter school units are intense! I haven't been online recreationally in weeks. I just turned in my last Photoshop assignment, but this weekend I need to design a business identity kit in Illustrator for a fictional local vineyard.
Good luck to all who are heading into the last weeks of your semester! |
