I just got a set of these Tupperware Fridge Smart containers, with the vent system you set depending on what the item is. They are supposed to save a lot of money by keeping fruit and veggies fresher much longer, and you are not throwing away spoiled food.
I have a question, though. Are you supposed to wash your fruit and veggies before you put them in the containers? Does anyone here have any experience with these?
I got them on sale, half price, and bought some extras to give as Christmas gifts.

I know that this post is old, but as a Tupper-lady we say that you shouldn't wash your veggies until they are ready to be used straight from the market. Since you may be getting things straight from your garden or farmers market an initial wash would do no harm. BTW we just got new designs www.mytupperware.com/ambernoah

Well, I am really LOVING these containers! I bought whole mushrooms a week ago, and can't believe how perfect they still are! They're just like the day I bought them. I am impressed 
These will definitely be a money-saver for me.

I have used those same containers for years. I don't wash first unless it's got dirt on it such as from my garden or the farmers market. I love them and have found them to be a huge money saver for me.

Some foods, like berries, are NOT supposed to be washed before storage. It makes them deteriorate quicker. Here's a good PDF on that for you:

For the record, I don't wash what I store beforehand, unless it's from my garden and has dirt on it, and I just rinse it and dry it before storage.

I don't think it matter whether you wash them first or not. I always do. Sometimes if you wash them but don't dry, which sometimes that is hard to do unless you prepare whatever it is for use first, there will be more moisture.
I think you will like using them.
