Posted - Apr 15 2012 : 10:41:24 PM Well y'all were right..the snow just made it better. It's cold. I wore 2 pair of pants, 2 shirts and 2 pair of socks and still needed my jacket most of the day. (yeah, I know. I really am a woose from Florida but it was still cold.) LOL This awesome, incredible, amazing, beautiful canyon is breathe taking. There are no words to describe this magnificent place. I know that the Colorado river carved out this canyon over 250 millions of years, but you can't help but feel that this is holy ground. You can't help but feel Gods power and might here. The canyon is HUGE, with multiple layers. If you filled the entire canyon with water..well, the tour guide said that it would take 800 fish tanks 1 mile high, 1 mile wide and 1 mile deep to fill it. The canyon changes with the moving of the sun and the light and shadows. We took the 4 hour tour for 52 miles along the east rim and took lots of pics. Rod found the whole day amazing. After the tour we went to Bright Angel lodge for dinner and then to EL Tovar lodge for dessert. It was crowded and 2 guys asked if they could join us. We talked for about an hour and enjoyed the conversations so much. Then THEY picked up our tab. This is a beautiful large lodge with a warm, wonderful fire in the fireplace. Lots of movie stars and presidents have stayed here. (We are at much cheaper accomidations.) While walking to the shuttle bus stop we saw 2 mule-deer eating, almost close enough to touch. There were a zillion stars out. It was so quiet and romantic. The perfect ending to a perfect day. How very blessed I feel. What a wonderful trip and much needed my time with my dear husband. My "bucket list" is complete and I am so deeply happy. Now I just have to get all the photos in the albums. Total change tomorrow as we head to Las Vegas, NV. It will be hard to leave this canyon. I could live here except that, oh yeah, there's that pesky snow. Joey

Your description of the canyon was beautiful Joey-I could picture it so clearly. And the lodge-Wow!
Have a safe journey onward-looking forward to hearing what you see next!
