Posted - Apr 17 2012 : 06:25:18 AM well the bill i spoke of before passed in Michigan. they are raiding small farms and arresting owners. they are forcing these folks to shoot their own pig families. i am so saddened by the behavior of mankind. where is the constitution in this? they have made all old world pigs illegal to raise. all pigs now are considered ferral wild hogs. illegal to grow. natural news has a write up about this. they lumped the pigs in with feral hogs. this is soooo wrong. man cannot direct his own steps. to me it looks very obvious they will control our food then control us. sad news indeed. it makes little woody illegal.

Posted - Apr 22 2012 : 12:07:38 PM I visited an organic farm in Ohio that has heritage hogs. I sure hope that it doesn't go statewide. That is horrible. Government can be very cruel when it comes to living healthy. Almost reminds me of population control, by not letting people eat healthy, thus getting sick and letting doctors rack up the dollars and pharmaceutical companies make millions. Just sick.

Posted - Apr 21 2012 : 8:53:26 PM Ted Nugent, the rock star, is one of the farmers in Mich. who has had to kill all his pigs. He was talking about that at the NRA convention where his statements landed him being investigated by the Secret Service. He was interviewed by them here in Ardmore, OK where he was evidently speaking.

Posted - Apr 21 2012 : 8:01:09 PM I have read more on this and the farms they raided are ones that raise hogs that are mixed with ferral hogs and are hunting camp farms. They are a species that are very invasive. so it is not the cute little pink ones. nature news did not put all of this in it's article..not that I think michigan is right and I live in michigan but it is not what the article made it sound like. and I also heard that the farmers had a chance to sell their livestock to another state that it is legal but the farmers did not do that.

Posted - Apr 18 2012 : 11:42:43 AM This is unbelieveable. I understand that feral hogs can be a problem. In Arkansas, these hogs can be hunted, and many hunters enjoy the meat harvested. In fact, in the area of the state in which I live, farmers will allow hunters on their land to harvest these wild hogs. They can reproduce very quickly, which is why left unharvested, their numbers can cause problems. If a hog is being raised on a farm, by a responsible farmer, being cared for and fed, then it is not feral. I have a problem with heritage breeds being wiped out. Heritage breeds are those that are genetically sound for withstanding nature on their own. They don't necessarily need meds and antibiotics like some of the commercial breeds have to be given to survive until slaughter age. I also have a problem with farmers' stock being eradicated. This is just unreal to me. This is TOO much control in the hands of the government.

Posted - Apr 17 2012 : 6:54:05 PM I know pot-bellied pigs aren't exactly heritage, but do they fit in this category? Lots of people love their pot-bellied pigs. Cindy

Posted - Apr 17 2012 : 4:24:01 PM it is called the invasive specie act or like that. if you google naturalnews.com it will come up. it is true this is happening. you cannot grow pigs that are not on the pork grower list. they are considered ferrel hogs and killed. very sad they control the food they control us. this along with the raw milk raids and the gmo food and pink slime and meat glue and now the prozac arsenic antibiotic chickens is very scarey.
